I think we should draft linebackers, linebackers, more linebackers and then, just to be safe, another linebacker. I also wouldn't mind seeing a mid-late round pick used on a QB that has potential to develop. Even if Matt has to finish out the year due to Kurt's injury and plays well enough to be our #1 guy, he's the only QB on the roster on the right side of 30.

We need some safeties/corners for our 5&Dime packages too. But we can get those guys in later rounds.

i agree. I think getting another young, legit CB would be huge. None of knows whether Toler has anything or not. I'm guessing probably not if he still has Adams and Brown playing in front of him. The jury is still out on Rashard Johsnon too. That'w why i wouldn't mind a guy like Javier Arenas, from Alabama, being considered with our 2nd round pick.Plus he returns punts as well as anyone.

As for Ryan Mallet, by time it's all said and done i can see him being a top 20 pick.If Joe Flacco's arm made him shoot up the boards at the combine, the scouts will be drooling over Mallet's as well.

We need to figure out what year Andrew Luck will come out and what team will have the first pick and trade for that pick now. Best QB prospect in the country.

Oh, sure let's compound problems by continuing to force picks based on 'need'.
Let's not forget that Warner was a FA.

That timeline works if we get another year out of Kurt. When he retires, trade Boldin and tank for a year. Finish off the window of opportunity we have now and then rebuild. How about the USC freshman? I know some people are going to jump on that because of Leinart but what do you think of Matt Barkley's long term prospects?

That's the exception, not the rule. If he hadn't suffered a series of injuries he would never have been available to sign as a FA. Hell, he didn't even become our full time starter until series of injuries. Getting lucky is not something you base your strategy for the future on.

I am all about drafting a QB in the 3rd or 4th round.. someone like a Case Keenum/Dan LaFevour...

But suggesting we spend our 1st round pick on a QB s ridiculous, and I hate Lienart

Better we wait and get that kid out of A&M.
