In the Demarrio Pressley video, you can watch the second-round pick destroy Branden Albert twice in a row.

OK, from watching those videos, I would say that Felix Jones would be a better RB for the Cards than Stewart. Stewart reminds me a lot of Edge and juding from the video on this web-site, it doesn't look like he breaks many long runs, but is powerful and can break a lot of tackles. Jones looks to be much faster and has more moves and some nice long runs. Now that is going strictly from the highlight videos on this web-site.

We're going to look to replace Edge after this year, not compliment him. If they could this year , they would, but they can't. IMO.

It's easier to get complimentary backs later in drafts. But not all contribute well. Arrington was a 2nd round bust so far.

It was also brought out in another post that NFL teams , that run two back systems, do so mostly out of necessity. It's not necessarily the prefered way to do it. Thus the push for a FEATURE BACK. aka Mendenhall, Stewart.

So you are saying Jones is not a feature back?

I agree that jones looks like a better back for the cards than stewart, but based on just these videos , I think Jamaal Charles is the best option. Jones is fast but he is not going to get that kind of blocking from the cards, lets face it. He also isn't likeley to beat nfl defenses to the edge like that. He was untouched on almost every run in that clip. Jamaal Charles clips showed him breaking tackles and making great decisions with cutbacks and direction. I feel like drafting a back like jones would be like taking another jj. That being said, I am not a big college football watcher, I am going off just the clips supplied. Thoughts?

Not in the NFL. Not even in college.

Just because he played behind McFadden?

Just for once, I'd like to see the Cards get a RB that could score every time he touched the ball. This guy is scary fast (Jones) and has great moves. Right now, he would be a perfect compliment to Edge and I don't know why in a couple of years, he couldn't work his way into being a feature back.

Like you say, he could be another JJ, but then again, so could any of the other RB's in the draft. It's such a crap shoot.

I just feel the Cards need a RB with a lot of speed to compliment Edge. Get the opponents used to Edge barreling through the line like a bulldozer and then have Jones sneak around the side and scoot into the endzone. It would sure be nice if he somehow fell to #50.

I do not believe Whisenhunt is looking for a RB to complement Edge. That's a short term approach that would be appropriate if we had a young and talented starter in place. We don't.

He is looking for a replacement for Edge and should be. And that is why a RB at the #16 slot is possible and even probable in round 2 if we go defense at #16.

Why do you think that?

This will be Edge's 10th year and he'll be 30 years old with a lot of mileage on him at a position where all of that matters.

Whisenhunt is a 2nd year coach, building his team for the future. I'm probably assuming here, but no good, smart, young coach ever "builds" on or even allows himself to rely on an aging warrior as his primary RB.

Add to that the signals Whisenhunt has constantly sent about wanting a RB and CB in this draft. If we take a RB in rounds 1 or 2, it would shock me if he's not starting by mid season.

Very good points. Angles I hadn't considered.

If the team takes a replacement for Edge things will get very interesting.

So whom do you think the Cards should draft at that position?

Then Jamal Charles is your guy. He's a 4 time track all-american,was clocked in 4.38 for the 40(some think he did that easily and could better it),his speed converts to the football field, and his big play ability is shown by that he averaged 20.1 yards:shock: on his 34 career TD's in college.

Hey, Superspook and 40, I have no real clue who we'll draft at any position.

I just listen to the signals coming from Graves and Whisenhunt, factor in my opinions on the guys we currently have and make a wild guess at what we might do.

Doing a mock draft is beyond me. I watch a lot of college football and have never seen or noticed about 75% of the players who will go in the first 2 rounds.

Same for me, but I don't really get interested in college football until the draft rolls around and by then, all you have is highlight films.

Thanks Cbus. I'll see if I can find some film on him. He sure sounds like someone that could help this team.

Careful if you're at work. The music in the first part is not suitable for polite company.

The kid has got amazing feet. He can run into a pile of people and suddenly pop through and turn on the after burners. He's elusive, not afraid to take tacklers head on and has great balance. On top of that, he has teriffic hands as a receiver.

I can see why you are high on him Cbus. He looks like a great RB.

Also, this year, the Horn's had one of there worst OL in recent memory. Very inexperienced, RS freshmen, and sophomores starting at alot of spots. I'm all over Charles at 50 if he's there.

It inspires howling viewing elite Jerome Simpson jump over somebody. Whisenhunt likes this guy for a reason. Rafael Little and Jerome Simpson are still the only RB and WR I have read the Cardinals have talked to.

Ray Rice got knocked by PFW's draft magazine for not being a great receiver despite that he ranks 5th in the THEIR MAGAZINE'S top twenty guys for receptions AND he got 9.7 yards a reception. He gets knocked in the SI movie for his size being an issue yet, while these carries were facing NCAA defenders, he carried the ball 907 times in 3 years!
