1. Panthers -N.Fairley
2. Broncos - P.Peterson
3. Buffalo - V.Miller
4. Bengals - A.Green

What do the Cardinals do ?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

IMHO,

I would trade down at this point.

1. I go back and forth about Robert Quinn at this position. He might be a reach, and too big a risk. Aldon Smith is an option here too, but again reach/risk.

2. I do not see a QB here that would be any less of a project than John Skelton.

3. I think there is a lot of value you in the back end of this 1st round, and in the second round.

4. The Cardinals need to fill a lot of holes, and not just starting roles. There are a lot of places where there is a lack of depth, and lack of any young future talent.

5. The Cardinals could setup a trade with the Redskins to 10 and then pick Aldon Smith, and get something in return as well. A later round pick perhaps. Cause at 5 you can let teams haggle for the spot to pick Newton or Glabbert. With the Niners, Titans, Browns to a lesser extent, looking for a QB the #5 spot could have some value.

Da'Quan Bowers. I think he might be athletic enough to play OLB.

There are projects, and then there are projects.

Comparing Skelton, a fifth rounder out of the Patriot league, with Gabbert or Newton is really stretching the term "project". (IMO)

After the Combine, etc... and given the earlier suggested selections, I think I'll be comfortable with either Newton or Gabbert.

San Fran, I suggest, will be happy if we pass on either.

I almost cried when I read that. We need a first round QB for our future and we are pretty much first in line to get one if it goes right. I love how there isn't one QB that's worth a damn in this draft (or at #5), words will be eaten.

If a club trades up to get Newton or Gabbert, they will have to pay up the wazoo to do so, and they are smart to do so.

You take Newton and you dont trade down for the sake of trading down. And if a team is in dire need of a QB is Graves dumb enough to pass on em and let SF and SEA pick up the top 2 QBs in the draft?

Grave's history of trading down is abysmal.

what do you do just sit around an try to think of ways to dperess me? :D

I think the trade down is likely and, with what Graves did last time, probably will lead to more depression.

I hope that they can find a trade partner for someone who wants Julio Jones, who I'm hoping has a great Combine and pre-draft and convinces someone to take him in the Top 4. That's probably the best-case scenario. Look at Washington or Cleveland as possible trade options.

If we're forced to exercise the pick (which I'm not sure we would be in THIS case), I'd think carefully about Jones, but I'd probably pull the trigger on Blaine Gabbert or Robert Quinn (depending on HIS pre-draft process--will he be able to workout at the Tar Heels' Pro Day?).

I would take Bowers as he is best available player by far at this point. Most feel he will be either #1 or # 2.

This is from the scouting report from ESPN on his position versatility :
Excellent versatility for his size. Is best-suited to play power end in a 4-3 but is very effective when moved inside, particularly rushing the passer as a 3-technique. Might also be able to fit as a 5-technique in a 3-4. Has some experience dropping into coverage but is most comfortable working up the field.

:D

But truth be told, I am warming up to Cam Newton, but every time I think to say, "Why not?" I have visions of colassal failure of the future of Newton.

Yet, is Newton any more of a risk than an Aldon Smith or Robert Quinn ?

Add in that I think a trade partner is going to be tough to come by.

Come to think of it, if there is no free agency ? Then Newton might be the right guy and the right risk to take just because of the unknowns of free agency.

As for Blaine Gabbert ? Not sold on this kid in the least. That is where, IMO, we are just drafting another John Skelton.

To look at it on paper ? Looks kinda good.

Marc Bulger
Cam Newton
John Skelton

But, as I say this the Bills are rumored to be looking at Cam Newton at #3: http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/266790-newton-to-bills-at-no-3

If Newton goes #3 then I would be very surprised if Von Miller is not there at #5. Whom I would pick in that situation.

I am honestly trying to cut down on my Newton and the draft a first round QB posts. :p

But I still want tons... Ortons, Skeltons, and Newtons.

If Da'Quan Bowers (who I forgot about in the OP scenario) and Julio Jones are both on the board at #5 overall, the Cards are going to have no problem finding a trade partner.

If it plays out like this, it's a blessing. I think you take Bowers or Quinn and don't look back.

I'd take one of the QBs. But the Cardinals? I just can't see Whiz agreeing to a QB at #5. Does he have the balls to wager his career on Newton or Gabbert? I think he would have with Luck but not these 2.

Green is who the Pats could be looking at. They need someone who can get down field and open the underneath for Brady.
