Why are we wanting Ellis to fall to us? Aren't Gabe Watson and Alan Branch enough?

Could he play left end? The only place he would start would be instead of Smith.

Yes, he would be in the rotation at end in the 3-4 and tackle in the 4-3 immediately. The guy somewhat similar to D-Dock, but will be better IMO. That said, he will be long gone by #16. I will be floored if he is still around by the 10th pick.

Any CB taken #1 scares me. We also have a terrible history of drafting CB's with #1. People cannot even agree who the best CB is. Every 5 or so years a CB will emerge that is sure fire but for the most part you just are playing with fire. Good CB's can come from lower positions as well as #1's with a lot less chance of a bust. Unless their is a Deion Sanders out there stay away from the CB and go with the best player which is very unlikely to be a CB.

Well said.

I think after Pacman was gone, most if not all agreed that Rolle was the best CB available... no?

Seconded. Ellis was reportedly unblockable at the Senior Bowl.

The reason I would want the Cards to jump all over Ellis is that he and Dockett would supply some top notch inside pass rush - -- and that is the best kind there is -- it gets there quickly, the QB cant step up, and he can see it bearing down on him so you get lots of hurried throws even if you dont get sacks.

Most mocks have Ellis going to Cincy at #9. If Cincy does something unexpected, then he has to get by (in all likelihood) Denver and Detroit.

I dont expect it, but odd things happen on draft day -- and it always seems like one guy ends up sliding.

Actually, Kiper has the Cardinals taking Leodis McKelvin of Troy in his latest mock.

oh man would i be stoked if that happened. from what i've read (and yes, i am freely admitting that i haven't seen the dude play - though i really haven't seen a lot of the cb play this year) the kid is just a stud waiting for just a bit more development.

Slides, it seems to me, occur when there are questions that arise in the final weeks before the draft; there are none with Ellis, as he had a great pro day last week.
