If Fowler was gone Jags were set to take Williams.

I tracked down a coach whose team played Gunter and he said the kid was the best defensive player they played all year. No scout really saw much of him, so he's a gamble but so is most of day 3. This guy might surprise. The coach I talked to is a comer who will move up.

I totally get his opinion on Gunter but so did Buckner have a similar view till he drove out to the middle of nowhere and worked him out personally. Because there really are so many players who are suppose to have the traits to play in the NFL (the diamond in the rough dream) from an obscure area that never do work out, a skeptical Buckner even mentioned going there looking for every reason he could to state the kid was just another one of those stories with no worth. In the end, he could not find a reason to disbelieve the kid and the rest of the staff fell in love with the kid... I hope they are right :)

It makes me think of the 1984 movie, The Natural. I want to believe there are diamonds in the rough out in the middle of nowhere just waiting to be found.

A lot of them turn out being cubic zirconia, and that Jag scout could be right but Gunter fits the role perfectly for one being that diamond in the rough. Dude shows up in a baseball cap (worn normal like a hard working country boy and not styling) to sign his contract and is genuine thankful and down to earth. Kid has never had anything, earning all he has under not ideal conditions and appears to be the kind of person who will fight like mad to get what he wants with no excuses. Life has been hard for him and a lot of guys have his size and it comes down to mentality if they succeed... I think his mental makeup will be hardcore and hopefully the Cards will have a fanatic on their hands, if so Gunter will win :)

It's so rare though. There's a reason these dudes weren't selected earlier.
