Draft Workouts, Day 2
The Phoenix Suns held their second pre-draft workout at Amercia West Arena on Tuesday, taking a look at Mississippi State forward Mario Austin, North Dakota forward Jerome Beasley, forward/center Zarko Cabarkapa of Yugoslavia and Notre Dame point guard Chris Tomas. Log on to Suns.com later this afternoon for a full report.

Zarko just turned 22 this month. He is young and already has some good experience against very good players.
This guy should be able to help a team quicker than a lot of the players in the draft.

I also like his size of 6' 11" ..........to probably play three positions.

Beasley, Austin, & Smith are rated in the 2nd round by most mock drafts.

Now I know that does not mean they will go in the 2nd round, they could go in the first but, maybe the suns are looking at them and if they like one of them and think they could get them in the 2nd they may be thinking of moving down and pick up a 2nd round pick.

This may be a draft to do that.

Zarko at this time is in the 25th place in NBA draft.

Just a thought.............

Is that why this guy can't even rack up good stats in the yugoslavian league?

Here are his stats
11.6ppg 4.7rpg 1apg 0.4spg 0.6bpg 2.2topg 47%FG 24%3pt(!!!) 66%FT%(!!!)

His shooting percentage actually went down 10% this season as his FGA went up. So it's pretty ironic that people on various Suns messageboards claim that ''Oh I know he is a bad rebounder and sucky defender but he is big and a legimate 3pt thread'' when this guy shoots a bad percentage from the EUROPEAN 3pt-line.

Obviously he can't speak english either.

I like Chris Thomas much more than any of the prospects we worked out so far and his interview was pretty good.

Its so hard evaluating talent because of how other players who seem similar cloud your judgement. I look at this guy and I think "Langhi." I am sure others look at him and think "Nowitski."

He's most likely neither one.

I was thinking the same thing. If the Phoenix Suns draft a European player for the sake of drafting a European player I'll be upset. I don't think they will.

What's funny, is on nbadraft.net's draft board, out of the 11 picks from #18 to #29, there are only 4 American players on the list, the rest are all Europeans...

I wonder, if by the time we are at #17, all the best players will actually BE European... :(
