Andray Blatche sounds like an interesting prospect, however, except for the selection of Stoudemire in recent years, I am less confident (than I previously have been) in the Suns' recent draft selections. In looking at a player like Blatche, a good scouting staff is a must. However, I think the jury is still out on players like Zarko, Jacobsen and Barbosa among others. Although I'm sure they did not produce as well as the Suns anticipated thus far.
I think the death of previous Suns' scout, Percodini, may have had more serious consequences than I expected. Also the loss of Cotton may hurt the Suns' decision making in future drafts as well. I just don't know, for example, whose input scouting input ultimately lead the Suns to pick Barbosa instead of a Josh Howard?
The Suns, in my opinion, through the draft, trade or free agency desperately need at least another quality big and a PG. The Suns bench this year has been woefully weak with the exception of Jim Jackson and some good minutes, on occasion, by Hunter. I'm hoping the Suns will not lose Hunter in free agency because he has shown some potential at such a young age (I believe he is 22).
The Suns just cannot afford to miss on their 21st pick this year. He needs to be a player with the ability to contribute soon (BPA) hopefully a big man or a PG. However, if the BPA is at another position, the Suns need to take him and fill in the gaps on the bench as best they can with role players.
