Count Drake Maye as someone who’s excited to welcome Will Campbell to New England.
"Love this guy already LFG," Maye posted to X shortly after the Patriots drafted Campbell with the No. 4 pick on Thursday night.
The offensive tackle out of LSU addresses a big need for New England and will provide much-needed protection for Maye as he enters an important Year 2.
A three-year starter at LSU and consensus All-American in 2024, Campbell proved to be a reliable left tackle and has “renowned leadership skills and football character,” per Bleacher Report’s scouting department.
Maye was sacked 34 times in his rookie year under center for the Patriots. But with Campbell on the O-line, the quarterback should be better protected in 2025.
Campbell started in all 38 games during his time at LSU and allowed just five sacks in over 2,553 snaps.
