that team came out of the gates strong and was a rock solid 7-3 before punting the next 5 weeks. Doesn't seem like the same circumstances... but, there is always that ONE team every year that looks like complete horsecrap early and somehow turns it all around to make a crazy run to the playoffs.
Big difference is, the 2008 team scored points. This team doesn't.

I say you go get the guy and stop the Bethel experiment... he would be a signing which would still be better at his age than any rookie we would pull the trigger on in two years (meaning a later round pick since we have other needs next year and at a better stage than any rookie drafted high the following draft), this sort of signing would still be valid next season and has major worth

Would you trade Bethel for DRC? I would.

Yes. One of my top off-season trade proposals was to trade T Jared Veldheer for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The Giants needed a LT and the Cardinals needed a CB. Their cap figures were about equal.

Veldheer is no longer a trade option and he is now nursing a sore knee, but Bethel could be a good trade chip because he can play slot CB, which is what the Giants need.

Make the call, Garth!

This team isnt winning a championship... Its not even making a deep playoff run.. We are old.. Old as hell in so many positions and have not one decent OL at this point... To me its assinine to trade away draft capital on a team that needs ro be gutted and needs a QBOF.... Why? So you can be happy that your ream may win 1 or 2 more games maybe??? Im not rooting for us to lose on Sunday... But dont want us getting rid of draft picks when this tean isnt on the cusp of a SB title... Pointless....

You want to tank and gain draft capitol? Then would you trade PP21 for a number 2 and 6 pick? Word up here is Green Bay is calling. That would help the tank and gain you picks.

I'm not saying this team is gonna get better and win a bunch of games or Super Bowl, but I remember back in 2008 this team looked like inconsistent caca for 10+ weeks, before putting it together at the end of the season for a magical run. That 2008 team got smoked in East Coast games and couldn't run the ball for much of the season, too. Just saying that it's not time to give up, until it's time to give up.
But THIS team doesn't look "inconsistent" it looks BAD. Even in victories it hasn't been good. Our Super Bowl team didn't look this CONSISTENTLY bad.

He never advocated GIVING UP TALENT. No one has said that. Again trying to put words into people's mouths to weaken their argument. Stop it. It's beneath you wisconsincard.

Stop taking everything I say like it's aimed at you. I'll stop when I want to, and I think it's a valid question. I would actually consider that trade. So I guess the only "argument" I am weakening is my own. Stop acting like your everybody's mom and move on. I had my debate with you...that's right debate, not an argument, and I have moved on. You're not going to change my mind and I'm not going to change yours. I figured that out 10 days ago, so I figured way back then that we'll just agree to disagree.

Hmm.. that's a tough question. It would be hard to do it today. Perhaps on draft day if a can't miss QB prospect is sitting at 2 in a deep draft where 6 overall also nets you an immediate impact player.

*wait, are you saying a 2nd round and 6th round? no way.

The reason it is being brought up is that Green Bay wants/needs him now to make a super bowl run. They want him now not at draft time. I am guess if we wanted to wait until draft time the price would be much lower.

Getting rid of Peterson, who's still WELL in his prime and will be for prob another 4-5 years is assinine because it not only hurts you know but ALSO hurts you for the future... and for a second and sixth round draft pick? For a HOF? That makes zero sense.

You don't trade away a key part of the future... to make yourself yourself better in the future. A true tank trade would be more like dealing Carson to a contender if they're QB went down... or even Fitz to a contender desperate for WR help.

It's baffling to me how people don't understand this type of thing.

Looking at the roster, I would trade almost anyone with a few exceptions if it would garner additional draft choices within the first 4 rounds.
P. Peterson
Reddick
D. Johnson
are the only three untouchables I see.
Branch
Peters
Baker
are three I would have to get top dollar for.
The rest are up for grabs. Yes that includes Palmer, Fitz, Chad Williams, A. Peterson, etc. This doesn't include any players that are on IR because they at not useful to anyone at this time.

This is going to be an unpopular take, but if trading next years first and David Johnson guarantees us one of the top-tier QBs in 2018, I'd pull the trigger.

Jones is untouchable, especially considering the uncertainty of Golden, from a health and development standpoint. Can he have another 12 sack season? After an ACL tear, who knows.

Those are the only untouchables because they're all in their prime, all of them amongst the best at their position.

Everything else is up for grabs in tank/rebuild mode.

Again I never said I wanted the team to tank.. Clearly wrote I'm not rooting for us to lose on Sundays. thats the definition of tanking and wanting to. I just don't want us trading for an older player who isn't going to put us over the top in anyway shape or form... BIG DIFFERENCE...

We need the draft picks as leverage in case this FO actually decides to go out and try and actually attain a QBOF in the off season..

I guess my post wasn't very clear, I did not mean to insinuate that you were advocating a tank. My question was if you wanted too then would you trade sPP21. Sorry for the confusion.

Gotcha bro... No I would not trade PP21... He is only 27 and with the right decisions this team could be good by 2019 IMO... Rather see him be part of it...
