His arm is gone. On that throw to the sideline where Floyd got jacked up Stanton threw as hard as he could and it floated.

We might actually run the ball if Stanton is the QB Thursday.

Considering Palmer's injury history, never made any sense to me why they didn't invest in a better backup than Stanton.

Even Case freaking Keenum outplayed Stanton today.

The beat writers always fall in line with BA. They make fun of or put down fans who question coaching moves. They refuse to ask BA tough questions at his pressers. I responded to Urban's post game summary tweet asking if there were any plans to replace the ST coach and he deleted it. They are all too afraid to get on his bad side it seems. Spineless enablers, anything they write should be taken with a grain of salt.

I can't agree more with this. The media here are such sunshine pumpers because they rely on access to collect a paycheck. It doesn't matter if they are writers or radio hosts, they will brush away any reasonable concern or criticism and spin it as over reacting, or BASK are gods, or how hard it is to win in the nfl even against inferior teams.

I can't help but put some small amount of blame on them. The media can hold teams accountable and the media is usually what prompts the timing of shakeup events, at least in cities where they have the balls to call it like they see it.

Had the media been more critical of some of the questionable things going instead of drinking the koolaid perhaps it would have forced some hands. The only time I remeber the media even remotely questioning BA was over the whole pregame stretching fiasco which was really the least of our concerns.

Remeber, the cardinals is a business and makes money because of fans. When the media tells fans they are justified in their concerns or frustrations it causes the owners to make it a priority for the staff to resolve it. For example if the media had been as critical of ST as they should have been perhaps we have a much improved ST going into the playoffs and the Panthers game goes just different enough to change the trajectory. Not to say ST was the biggest problem in that game but it was a major one.

Or maybe it doesn't matter at all but it is sickening to listen to all lapdogs pretend like everything is peachy when it clearly is not.

I wonder if they will be preaching the company line tomorrow and telling everyone to take a chill pill because this is really all of BAs master plan.

At least we can go into this Thursday road game with a ground and pound approach. With DJ we have a back that can really punish a defense. Also keeps our defense fresh. With Palmer under center, a run-heavy gameplan would never happen. So here is hope that we pound the Niners defense, who will probably be without Bowman too.

Stanton showed flashes of playmaking ability and some clutch factor when Palmer went down in 2014. Looked like one of the best backup QBs who might even start on a few teams. But that seems to be a long time ago. In 2 preseasons since and the limited action he saw in blowouts one way or another, he looked totally inept. He has no accuracy, stares down his primary read and even when it's not open, he will force it no matter what. His arm looked much weaker in preseason and yesterday than it did a few years ago. I don't even know if we can put him out there to be a conservative game manager, because he is prone to boneheaded mistakes.

The blame goes to BA for running such a complex offense that Stanton, who is in the system for many years, is entrenched as our backup QB. It's really painful to watch weekly how other offensive coordinators get creative with their scheme to help young or even notoriously bad QBs flourish. Easy concepts, easy reads, easy completions, mixing it up a bit and the offense is moving. BA is a stubborn "the system works" coach. Defenses know our tendencies and play the right coverage, forcing multiple QB-WR miscommunications. Pass rushers pin their ears back and are aggressive, knowing the plays develop slowly. Secondary takes away the deep ball and forces us to be patient, which this offense is not.

Also the complexity of BA's offense will make it hard for any rookie QB to shine, unless BA gets creative like other OCs. He got Luck nearly killed as a rookie in that offense. The way Stanton loves to take hits, don't be surprised if we see Dysert earlier than we would have liked. I actually thought that Dysert was a great developing prospect coming out and hoped we would draft and develop him behind Palmer.

Yeah, gotta say, this is NOT how I expected this season to start. Pathetic, man. Genuinely hope that Arians gave a good rant in the locker room after that mess.

I hate to say this, but the season is all but over. Losing to Case Keenum, Palmer may be out for a while, and a backup with a QB rating lower than Dave Brown, and this with the inflated ratings of today. It will take 9-3 from here on out to get a sniff at the playoffs. Bruce Arians has done an amazing job but never understood the confidence he had in "we can win the Super Bowl with Drew Stanton" back in 2014. This based on a handful of games with mediocre stats. At least Derek Anderson had 1 good season before he came here and he even played well in a game this year. This will be a rebuilding year, will be happy with 8-8 and offseason find the long term replacement for Palmer.

Stanton hasn't been the same since the concussion in 2014. Can someone explain the second to last play where the Int got overturned. Play literally made no sense. He wasn't trying to get rid of it either because Jaron Brown ran an out route to the sideline.

That was baffling we had 14 seconds I think so we had time for two hail marys. getting closer shouldn't have been an issue, Stanton had no trouble reaching the endzone on the next play.

Just baffling from start to finish yesterday.

is a type of coach that i dont think is able to work long term succesfully
the role of good uncle doesnt have the same influence in the roster after awhile and another boomerang is the excessive loyalty to his coaching staff

Stanton will fold like a cheap tent in SF. He will panic and fire up the crowd with early turnovers and we will be disgraced in a national audience game.

Maybe Stanton will be a blessing in disguise. Maybe we focus more on short to intermediate routes and running the ball more rather than heaving it 40 yards downfield every 3 plays to a well covered receiver only to be broken up or intercepted.

Yeah the current system is not working and when you play a team like the Rams that puts so much emphasis on getting shots on the QB and trying to knock him out of the game, why would you intentionally put your QB at risk with so many deep shots?

Look at Palmer yesterday an INT to Brown on a deep shot on 1st down, a strip sack for a fumble on a deep shot he never got off, and then gets injured on a deep shot he never got off. We can argue about whether Donald should have been penalized for going low(unblocked) or the guy that smashed his head into the turf too, but the reality is they were hitting Palmer all day long and we kept trying to run the deep stuff.

If Barkley is as bad as some people say, then we shouldn't have started the season with Palmer and Stanton because Barkley outplayed both of them by far during the pre-season.

Unfortunately, they won't have CJ23. Ellington is not a physical runner, so I guess it'll be all DJ31

Arians just said that he is more optimistic today that Palmer may able to play on Thursday than he was yesterday after the game.

What that means exactly I do not know.

Anybody who thinks we will become a ground and pound team because Palmer is out is going to be disappointed. We should have been a power running team since game 1 this season, based on the way the team is built. Poweful run blocking OLine, powerful RB, old QB who we should be protecting as much as possible.

If BA has proven one thing to us this season, it's that he completely refuses to adapt his scheme to personnel.

Also, IIRC, Stanton was airing it out just as much as Palmer when he took over in 2014.

I would re-sign Penny and Williams...and run the ball 50 times. Maybe take a couple shot plays to Brown and Fitz. I wouldn't trust Stanton in any other way. He will lose the game if you put the ball in his hands.

Well, if your AZcards post used terms like spineless enablers, you really shouldn't expect a response.
