Andre Ellington reminds me of Clinton Portis.

I watched alot of Clemson games over the last couple of years, and I am convinced Andre Ellington can be a really good NFL runningback. I was absolutely shocked he lasted until the 6th round. There are times where he does some things that really remind me of Clinton Portis. The 40 time of 4.61 is no where near a good indicator of his playing speed. I watched Clemson games and left saying to myself that Ellington was the fastest guy on the field.

There is a whole lot to like about Ellington's game. Obviously there must be concerns amongst NFL scouts and GM's because he lasted so long, but just on watching this guy in games the last 2 years, I was sure he was a 2nd round running back. I would put him way ahead of Geovani Bernard (2nd round back) in terms of game speed and running talent. Just my opinion.

4.61 cause during 40 yard dash pulled his hamstring 15 yards before the finish line

He looks fast and tough on tape. I am excited to see both new backs this year. Hopefully the line is much improved so we can enjoy them.

Ive watched alot of Taylor and Ellington and feel like one of the two is going to be a star. I like different things on both of them but there is no way both are busts or backups. One guy is gonna shine and hopefully both (although unlikely). Just not sure if I like the wiggle, patience and pros pro mentality of Taylor or the ability to catch, speed, and fight for extra yards I see in Ellington.

SO happy we drafter both though.

I can buy the Portis comparison. I wish nothing but success for this guy.

We've been such a horrendous running team for so long. I have to imagine that one of Mendenhall, Williams, Taylor or Ellington will pan out. I also think that BA's zone blocking scheme up front will help.

I really like the picks of RBs Taylor and Ellington. Our RBs last year was a weakness, hopefully it now will become a strength.

When I watched highlights from most of the rookie runningbacks coming into the draft a few weeks ago, I really liked Ellington. I thought he was the best back aside from Gio Bernard. Hopefully he can be like Alfred Morris last year :D

Both Taylor and Ellington seem to have very good balance. Sometimes you will see them put there hand down and extend runs. Taylor has some whiggle for a big strong RB and Ellington is very quick and quite fast. Should make for a heck of a 1-2 punch.

I see Taylor being a lot more involved initially given his ability to block, which seems to be a big qualification for Arians offense. Excited to see both of these players bust their tails in preseason to earn their spots on the team.

As I mentioned previously he was Pro Football Weekly draft guide's #2 rated running back. Some draft pundits have him as the value pick of the entire draft.

I like both of these guys. I wish they both could excel, but only one of them will become the lead back. I like the fact that we have durable backs without a history of injuries. We have had a habit of stocking up on what seemed like exceptional players with injury histories, and it has been our undoing.

Anyone have any thoughts on what will happen to Williams?

Do you guys really see them both making the team? Doubtful..
Do you honestly expect either Powell or Smith to make it over the 2 guys they just drafted? My guess would be Mendenhall, Williams, Taylor and Ellington are the 4 going into the season.

Of course they will both make it. Mendhenhall is on a 1 year deal and Ryan Williams makes Beanie Wells look like Lou Gehrig. I doubt they will struggle to beat out Powell & Smith.
