I'm seeing (shocking) glowing reviews for this movie. I haven't seen it yet, but I still can't help but think this is an Americanized Transporter.

Can't wait to see this. At first I thought the same as you until I saw the cast. Don't think this many good people can make a bad movie. Plus I'll see anything Bryan Cranston is in.

Have you seen any of the previews for it? Looks nothing like an Americanized Transporter. :D

Went and saw it tonight. We were told prior to entering that management wanted us to be warned that some of the scenes were exceptionally graphic and gruesome.

Well some of them were. I really liked it. The tension throughout the movie was good. The acting was good. A little slow at times. But definitely worth my $.

I thought it was one of the better action movies I've seen in a while. Albert Brooks makes an awesome bad guy. Who would have guessed?

I've heard nothing but positive things about this movie. It might be one I try to catch in the theaters.

really good flick. Felt like a movie from the 70's, early 80's. Violent. Gosling could be a superstar if he wanted to be, but I'm glad he keeps making relative low key character pieces.

I was told the same thing before I went in by the guy taking my ticket. After that I was expecting 2 hours of blood and guts and second guessed if I should waste my time with it. Wasn't like that at all IMO. Yes there were a hand full of violent scenes. However I think they were appropriate in this day and age.

With that said I loved this movie and thought that Gosling did a fantastic job. I also loved Albert Brooks performance. Overall it was very film noir but it worked for me.

Overall a really good movie and probably the best action movie I've seen in years.

Action movie mixed with some film noir feel with some very violent scenes.

Gosling was very good in the lead. Refn won the Golden Palms for best director for this one. I don't think it was that unique, but definately some of the best I've seen for this genre.

Good movie. Gosling's understated performance was outstanding. Very interesting character. It's always fascinating to me watching stories about people who live on the fringe of society, who are part of society yet they aren't.

Some of the direction was overdone, but overall I really enjoyed it.

I hated this flick. With the hype it has gotten and the constant "cool" comments in the ads and the way the movie was presented I thought it was not that great.

I do not understand why there was any awards talk for him or Brooks. Especially considering the amount of screen time Brooks actually has.

Because Gosling does almost all of his acting in this movie without words.

Too often, actors are lauded for performances that are over-the-top, exaggerated etc. Gosling conveys a lot of complex emotion and depth in this role wordlessly, which is much harder to do. I thought he was excellent.

As for Brooks, considering he was doing a supporting role, he had plenty of screen time. Much more than Judy Dench had when she won her Oscar for Shakespeare in Love.

How about that diner scene when he tells that guy to get the hell out of his face...... His eyes watched him leave the diner. It was very intense.
