One of the reasons I don’t like trading up in this draft is that there is so much competition for the QBs that teams will overpay. In fact if the Cards could move down and get a decent second round pick (even if they had to give back a third), this draft’s round 2 could be great.

The sheer number of desired QBs is causing other positions to drop. The emphasis on Pro Day & Combine performance continues to caused on-field performance to be devalued.

I still believe James Washington will be a top impact receiver in the mold of Boldin. No one wins more disputed balls than he does.

Will Hernandez is likely the best run blocking guard in the draft. Nelson is better all around but Hernandez would move the Cards’ running game up a notch.

Orlando Brown is a mountain of a man. He’s not a great athlete but he’s almost impossible to move. Defenders would have to get around him. If he gets a little forward momentum he can clear a path in the running game as well.

Corners Jackson, Davis and Oliver can likely handle the number 2 corner spot.

Other wide receivers like Sutton, Kirk and Miller seem to be falling. Price is a terrific center and could play guard. Texas tackle Williams is a good prospect. Running backs Chubb, Jones & Michel would provide security.

With immediate help available below the Cards’ slot in round one and getting 2 of the above players in the draft could make the Cards a very solid team going forward. They wouldn’t be dominant but they couldn’t be overlooked.

I totally agree. After the top 12 picks in the draft there isn't much drop off between 13-50.

I think the Cardinals could trade back with someone like Dallas and snag some extra picks. Dallas will be desperate for a WR now that Dez is gone.

Those are some good players, Harry. Would be nice to have several of them. I also think that the Cowboys would trade up to get Calvin Ridley because the Ravens may take him before Dallas picks.

I like the idea of dropung down this year especially if indeed we pick up a 2nd. Whats the draft value chart say is equal in a 1st and 2nd?

Nm, I just looked it up. 25 and 57 (Tenn) are equal to #15 pick.

25- L. Jackson -QB, Kirk, Moore- WR, C. Williams - RT
47- Wynn, Hernandez -G, Rudolph - QB, Washington - WR
57- Davis, Meeks, Jackson- CB
79- Price, Ragnow - C, J. Jewell - ILB
97- Lauletta, White - QB, Ballage, Kerryon Johnson - RB, Gallup - WR

I think it will be really hard to trade down with Dallas because this WR class is good but not great... really, Ridley is not Julio Jones and simply not worth trading up for the Dallas Arrogant Self Proclaimed Leather Faced Owned Sub Arkansas Oklahoma Inbreed America's Team with some Michael Irvin spat for extra spice :)

Getting Hernandez late first by trading down and picking up another second rounder could land us Washington and Kirk in the second. That would make our WR room really good very quickly.

Harry, Washington is a stud and I agree with the Boldin comparison except he ranva 4.43 at his pro day so he may be a little faster. Quiet guy who loves hunting and fishing, will never have to worry about off the field issues.

Im all about this, Harry. Would love to trade back, pick up a 2nd, and draft Hernandez round 1. Then fill in some holes in rounds 2 and 3.

I like the idea of 3 picks in the first two rounds. There's a lot of positions that need attention on the Cardinals.

What is atypical about this draft is an excessive number of quarterbacks, a running back and a guard projected to be in the top ten. That "slides" the entire draft class down five picks.

The Cardinals can trade up and get a top five talent in the second five. I'm discounting that option as other teams are more willing to overpay.

The expected option is "with the fifteen pick in the 2018 NFL draft the Arizona Cardinals select".

The final option and the one I like best is to trade back in the first round.

The college game is shifting to man to man coverage. The crop of man to man coverage guys is deep. But is it deep enough for a top tier guy to be there at #47 overall? Is the guy the Cardinals can take at #15 a significantly better prospect than the guy they can get ten picks later? The Cardinals are being linked to Central Florida's Mike Hughes.

Defensive tackles - Da'Ron Payne (Alabama), Taven Bryan (Florida) and Vita Vea (Washington), are what the Cardinals wished they got from Nkemdiche.

Leighton Vander Esch (Boise St.) - number three with a bullet on the inside linebacker ratings.

Billy Price* (Ohio State), James Daniels (Iowa), Isaiah Wynn (Georgia) and Will Hernandez (UTEP) will be available late in the first but probably off the board by the time the Cardinals pick in the second. But the Cardinals addressed offensive line in free agency (they hope) so I just don't see them going offensive line early in this draft. *Price was projected mid first prior to being injured at the combine.

Sometimes trading down can come back to haunt you....but I like it in this draft. It would be nice to get a CB for sure. The other 2 picks could be your choice of DT or WR or even a QB.
