Saw this when browsing around a few Lakers forums:

http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=110492

Apparently Dudley talked about flopping when he guards Kobe, as well as going after his finger. Probably joking, but still. Dudley needs to shut his mouth and just play. No need to give the Lakers any extra motivation.

On a side note, their fans are even more cocky and annoying than Spurs fans. Never thought I'd say that. It's amazing how 99% of them aren't even giving a second thought to the Suns. Most are predicting a sweep, or at worst, 5 game series.

Reading that thread, further proofs Laker fans collectively has got to be the dumbest fan base ever.

It will provide no motiviation because it's clear it's a joke. He's actually giving Kobe props because he's joking that it's the only way to slow him down because he's so good.

Faker fans are just too freaking stupid to pick up on sarcasm. They cant even spell it.

Now words like; "incarceration" "statutory" "adjudication" they know those words like the back of their hands.

If the Lakers were playing God for the Universal Championship, there would be a thread on that board laughing about whom God would have guard Kobe.

"We've got matchup advantages all over the place!"

This is par for the course with Laker fans.

Most don't really pay attention to any other team in the league, with the exception of the Cavs so they can nit pick at Lebron's play for reassurance that Kobe is a superior player (which he's not IMO).

And yes, many of the ones I've come across especially in LA are short sighted. I cant tell you how many times I've asked the question "why are the Lakers the best team in the league?" and the one word response from these people is "Kobe."

The only Laker fans I will initiate communication with are those I perceive as intelligent basketball fans. For example, my father-in-law is a die hard Laker fan and used to sit so close to the court that Magic Johnson fell onto his lap. Him and I have talked about the prospect of our two teams meeting in the playoffs. He said he wants nothing to do with the Suns. He feels that we have weapons everywhere and have a deep enough bench to out hustle the Lakers. In addition, he feels Nash is playing some of the best ball of his career despite his age.

Whiners fans.
:yeahthat: x1000

Laker fans = Cowboy fans they're all bandwagoners who just go to the games to drink and know nothing about the team except the superstars.

Yankee fans are obnoxious and arrogant but atleast they know what they are talking about.

Whiner fans..... All of the above except they bring that Northern Californian "sass" to the equation, which puts them over the edge.

Wow, some nice generalizations in this thread.

I will say this, the Lakers obviously have their fair share of bandwagon fans, but that will happen when you have the string of success they have achieved for the last 50 some years.

That said, there are just as many die hard Laker fans that can be honest with themselves and with their opponents as there are with any other fan base. People on a message board, especially one as large as LakersGround, will have it's share of both. The problem is, that a lot of times the bandwagoners are also the ones who like to post the most.

I don't go to LakersGround anymore, mostly because I couldn't handle the bi-polar mood swings. After every win we were the greatest team ever. After every loss the world was crumbling. However, true, passionate, die-hard Laker fans are among the smartest most basketball savy fans in the world (and I have lived in Phoenix, Boston, New Jersey, and now in Reno (Kings country) so I feel like I have been exposed to quite a few fan bases). That may not be everyone's experience, but I know for me and my Laker fan friends, that we are of that ilk.

As for the series, you won't catch me saying it is a mismatch. There are things about the Suns that scare the crap out of me. That said, I still think the Lakers are better, and have some advantages (home court, front court scoring, #1 3pt defense, Kobe matchup, etc.) that will be tough for the Suns to overcome. Unless there is some unforeseen injury/suspension to an impact player for either side, I think the Lakers will win a VERY hard fought 6 or 7 game series. It wouldn't completely shock me if the Suns won, because I have A LOT of respect for Nash, Hill, Amare, and even Jared Dudley (even though it might behoove him to tone it down a little bit in respect to Kobe).

As per the OP, I heard the Dudley podcast with the Sports Guy. He seems like a good dude. In fact, after his first podcast appearance I started following him on twitter (along with Nash and Amare). I also comprehended that he was joking a little bit. No matter what he said though, it will most likely have zero effect on the series. Although if it was me, I would just not say anything before a series like this that could be even closely considered "chalkboard material". Guys like Kobe, much like Jordan, Bird and Magic back in the day, thrive off of any perceived (real or not) lack of respect. Not saying it will happen in this instance, but IMO, it is not worth the words to find out.

It's joking around, but it's much better to stay away from stuff like this, which Dudley either doesn't understand or just let slip. If word of this reaches the NBA front office, which it will, as small a thing as it is, officials will just call things that much tighter in favor of Kobe, joking or not.

Having lived in that region of the country, I think they're too stoned from the "medical" marijuana and the wine to be sassy. Give them a brownie and they'll go away.

Who is worst?

Lakers fans? Cowboys fans? Yankee fans?

Ironically, I am a Cowboys fan as well as a Suns fan. But I DO have an excuse. My grandfather was from Texas and raised my father here in AZ to be a Cowboys fan. And since we didn't have a team here yet, I grew up a Cowboys fan too. KOC used to give me all sorts of crap for this. But it was in good fun.

I lived through the 90's Superbowls and suffered through the 2000's. Interesting how all of a sudden there seems to be Cowboys fans everywhere again. (Who looooove to be as annoying as possible.) Where were they over the past 10-15 years?

I love Dudley. He's the a-hole every championship team needs. He's basically our Rick Fox.

Dudley is nothing like Fox thank god. He's really funny. I talked with him and one of his boys after they played here and he was hella nice. Way cooler than Nash, who did sign my jersey, but never once made eye contact with me and kept talking to some PR person while being the last Suns player out of the lockeroom by a good 15 minutes. :p

Off the court he may not be but on the court, he absolutely is Rick Fox. He's the guy who gets under the other teams skin and hits timely three pointers. An assassin who comes with a smile while being a dirt worker and a key component of the team.
