Dumb and Dumber 2

http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/03/showbiz/movies/dumb-dumber-2-farrelly-carrey-ew/index.html

Early last month - Peter Farrelly dropped a Twitter-imploding bombshell in the middle of a "Three Stooges" press junket.

"We're getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September," the director told ComingSoon.net. "We've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

Farrelly may have jumped the gun a little bit -- a source close to the production tells EW that the film is "moving along, but it's not greenlit yet."

so dumb and dumberer will no longer be dumb and dumber two.

Technically, Dumb and Dumberer was a prequel. It shows Lloyd and Harry in high school.

No, I've never seen it. Seeing the trailer was painful enough.

It wasn't written or directed by the Farrelly Bros.

Dumb and Dumberer was pretty terrible. a few laughs here and there, but terrible

Dumb and Dumber on the other hand is one of my guilty pleasures.

A worst-movie-ever competitor.

Jim Carrey bows out of ‘Dumb and Dumber’ sequel

http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/jim-carrey-bows-dumb-dumber-sequel-165903133.html

He was psyched. But apparently the studio wasn't.

Jim Carrey just pulled out of the sequel of "Dumb and Dumber" just a few months after the project was announced. The reason: Carrey became progressively more frustrated with New Line and Warner Brothers' apparent lack of enthusiasm for the project.

Sources close to the project tell Yahoo! Movies the film will not be made without Carrey.

Some think the above is just an attempt to get the studios off their ass to get it done. I bet if they all of the sudden green lit it he would be back on board.

It's not like Jim Carrey's career is on the upswing anymore.

Carrey now hinting that the sequel may be back on during interviews for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

Oh boy...that did NOT look funny. Loved the first one but this movie wreaks of desperation more then I did the night of my senior prom!

Seems like they are just trying to recycle the same jokes from the first one... in some cases, word for word.

I have rarely, if ever, seen lightning caught in the same bottle twice.

You just cannot recreate the brilliance that was Dumb and Dumber.

What made the first one so great was it was just pure unadulterated stupidity on the part of the characters. It was just seeing how dumb they could really get and at the time the toilet scene, riding the moped gags seemed a little over the top.

Now? There have been a ton of gross out comedies and the mystery of how dumb they could be was answered in the first one. I think this movie bombs but a part of me hopes it doesn't. It is still one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Just to tell you the impact of that movie.....I still hear people today quoting lines and scenes all the time.

That trailer was pretty underwhelming.

The first movie is probably in my top 10. I'm sure people think I'm nuts, but it's still one of my favorite comedies. But this has "cash grab" all over it IMO.

The only saving grace is that Carey fought making a sequel for sooo long. Perhaps he really liked the script and it will surprise us. (I don't see Carey as being desperate enough to make a sequel just to "revive" his career.)

Big gulps huh? Welp, see ya later!

I do. Carrey hasn't had a film make over the magical 100 million dollar mark since 2005 and only had one even close to that with the pedestrian Yes Man during that entire time frame. He's becoming a non-entity in the comedy world (although he was the only highlight of the abomination that was Burt Wonderstone).

He seems pretty full of himself and has said many times that he hates sequels. So I'm hoping that he's only doing this because it legitimately has a chance at being good.

He has plenty of money and is still fairly respected in the industry. So, I'm crossing my fingers.

there's never really enough money in the world for actors...trust me. and i'm not so sure about how respected he still is in the industry. this is a what have you done for me lately town and lately, he hasn't done jack squat to crow about.

So, I'm crossing my fingers.

might want to cross you eyes, toes and testicles too after that trailer. yikes!
