I don't see why he will lose millions. He was already going to lose millions even if the new deal had been submitted in time. Now he will likely get around the same amount anyways.

Restructured contracts are different then a totally new one and he will not get the 8 he agreed to earlier. He will probably make closer to 6 this year.

Why is the NFL still using fax machines?

Do they not allow peeps to use electronic signatures for contracts?

I am no lawyer but is there a legal reason to still use fax machines?

Some math: $4.869M in Bronco dead money from Elvis cut. Reworked cap charge w/paycut woulda been $9.623M. So maybe Denver offers Elvis <$5M?

they most likely cannot bring him back now it seems. Because they had to cut him they now have dead money against the cap . So if they brought him in at the same 8 mill figure he would count 8 mill plus the dead cap space from releasing him. It would cost them even more to bring him back, defeating the purpose of the restructure in the first place.

Upstairs at Dove Valley, Broncos are not happy. Next step in this process: Minimum 10-minute cooling off period. Probably longer

I bet they let him walk.

Makes sense than. I was thinking he was getting more like 7M in the new deal which he will likely get on the open market.

Well that's a stain on Elway's lapel, and not a chew stain either.

He'll probably remain withe Broncos, but hey if someone wants to offer something to him, like us, it's possible. As pointed out by others, we even potentially know what he 'settled' for.

edit: oh it was the agent's mistake (or ploy), but I still don't really see how he loses anything. Possible, but he can probably get more on the open market compared to what he agreed to. Though who knows, we don't know how that 12 mill would have been altered by the restructure. We do know that he obviously wasn't going to get what he originally signed for.

Kruger is the highest paid OLb this offseason so far with 8 mill per year. With the first week over and a lot of cap dollars now gone will Dumervil be able to make 7 mill per??? He is worth it but will he get it, money might be gone for that type of contract???

I would offer it to him ASAP.

Very doubtful he stays in Denver unless he agree to take even less. They will have almost million in dead money after being released. They pay his new contract. making the cost more then they would have had to pay if he just stayed under old contract.

Sign Him!

+1.

Part 1: Someone near Denver go cut the phone lines, and jam all wireless signals.

Part 2: Someone get a hold of Calais Campbell and tell him to meet me at Dumerville's house. We are going to make him an offer he cannot refuse. capiche?

Part 3: Quick someone get Jason Kidd, Rex Chapman, and George McCloud to fly up there ASAP. Just don't touch a car that is associated with Elway's dealerships (potential sabotage).

Oh wait, wrong franchise :D:D

Well on NFLN they just talked about the situation.

Conflicting reports but Michelle Bisner was there saying that the Broncos changed the language of the deal about guarantees in the 2nd year.

Now either the agent didn't notice it when they were discussing it like yesterday or something, but what they got today had it in there, but they didn't notice it until the last hour.

Broncos are saying it's the same contract they got earlier in the day. Plus then some conflicting stuff that doesn't make a lot of sense, like they made an agreement, but wouldn't then the contract need to be changed? But either way something was being signed about 55 after but the Broncos wouldn't wait any longer and cut him.

On a side not Rappaport said Dumervil's agent has already received calls, though no word of who. (though the important thing is that he didn't mention that those calls were rejected)

Also they said Dumervil said there is no hard feelings towards the Broncos.

Sounds like to me he's fair game.

Two ways this thing could go - (1) Elvis and his agent are emotionally drained by the negotiating process and work hard to get the deal re-done under post-deadline terms. (2) Elvis and his agent view this as a golden opportunity to make more money for Elvis in the open market.

If the latter, I hope we have an iron in that fire.

UPDATE - I understand that the failure to beat the deadline would put $12 -13 million "free" dollars into Dumerville's pocket - heckuvan incentive to remain a FA take the money & run.

We need a pass rusher and he's a good one. It would also eliminate the need to take Jarvis Jones, if he's sitting there at 7, and concentrate on Warmack.

I doubt the Cards get in on a bidding war though.

I didn't realise he wasn't even 6' tall. Prob. the reason he slipped to almost the 5th Rd. of the draft. He is productive rush wise, but teams could scheme more to stop him off our edge than the Broncoes who also had Miller. His tackle totals aren't all that hot either.
