for those watching the Wash - Jax preseason game --

brodacast is saying the rookie free agent punter looks like he has beaten out draft pick Durant Brooks for the punting job in Washington

so prior to predictable call to sign him immediately --

it raises a red flag to me that after spending a draft pick on a punter -- the drafting team cuts him.

I still would pick him up. The dude was great at G-Tech.

I'll do it for beer and a place on the bench closest to the cheerleaders.

**BONUS** I was the holder on my HS football team, and my kicker never cried about me, so I guess I'm ok.

He has had a bad offseason and preseason.

Kicking a full 3 yards shorter then the guy he is going against and a full 3 yards shorter then Dirk Johnson right now. He isnt making it up in hang time either. Just not kicking anywhere close to where he was in college right now, not sure what the issue is.

If we can petition the league to let me drag a Juggs machine onto the field, I'll gladly become the punter. I'd also have to have the one-bar facemask and different colored shoes. The best part is, I'll give a lockerroom account of each game right here at ASFN.

Joe-- I hesitated to post the news, but knew that somebody would

to me, if you take a kicker with a draft pick -- that kicker has to be pretty bad to get cut in the first camp

I was in favor of drafting this guy. Guess that's why I'm an electrical contractor and Steve Keim is director of scouting.:D

Maybe Steve is just not a very good electrician?

I really don't care. As long as he keeps making picks like he did this last year, I'll make yearly sacrifices to him.

Anybody know where I can find a virgin?:D

Agreed right now this draft looks to be terrific top to bottom.

It's funny to look back at how much the "experts" on this board were freaking out on Day 2 of the draft, you not being one of them Russ.

I know I was one of those who were freaking out about out 2nd day picks because of many DE's we drafted and that we should of drafted Durant Brooks and Mendenhall...And so far...Well I guess I would like some ketchup or catsup with my crow please. And I hope they countiue to prove me wrong.

I was one of them.

I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. None of these guys have taken a snap of live action. It may take the season to really see what we've got

To be fair I probably would have been freaking if I'd been on the board at that time.

IIRC I was fishing at Lake Nacimiento during the draft so I was blissfully unaware.

In retrospect, I like the Harrington pick hope we retain him on the active roster. Berry and LaBoy have had significant injury problems and rarely do players (Okeafor) miss an entire season only to come back and play 16 games the next year.
