This why this trade was stupid. You dont trade your entire future away for old players who get hurt.
Our entire future is locked up within the bodies of Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton. Mikal, sadly, was a complimentary piece on this team. A top tier compliment, but not our future.

Get busy livin, or get busy dyin.

Gerald Bourguet writes a more in depth article about Durant's injury but the bottom line is we really don't know a lot until we hear more information from the Suns.

It sounds like the Suns are awaiting the results of an MRI to help determine severity.

They have been reporting this exact same thing all morning on the radio. Theses articles are just people speculating.

Found out about the ankle last night, signed up for apple tv this morning, been binge watching Ted Lasso (which turned out to be a good show) so I wouldn't stress on the ankle as much. Just hoping for the best right now

Agree. People need to chill until we get official word from the team.

P.S. Ted Lasso is phenomenal (see thread for that).

The media is almost compelled to mention it. It's how they do it that makes a difference to me. I want the facts, not conjecture.

If you really want to overreact to the media, check out what they are saying on ESPN.

They have already written any chance we had at the title off, and doubt we will even make the playoffs now.

Knowing Durant's injury history - it's not an unreasonable feeling to have.

There are just some players that always get injured, he is one of them. Which is again one of the reasons why Mikal is so valuable.

Now that I’ve decompressed after my tantrum last night:

If, in the worst case scenario, he’s out until the playoffs, he’s proven that he’s been a plug-and-play member of this team and would seamlessly reintegrate into the lineup the first game he’s back. The caveat is seeding. Now, it really depends on how much of a mess Memphis is, how good Sacramento truly is, and if the Warriors turn it on to be the Warriors again with Steph healthy. Just get to the three seed, please.

Mikal is not a complimentary piece.

He is going to be an all star.
I said "was", as in past tense. IOW he had been a complementary piece for us when we made the trade. I think that's accurate if you consider the 3rd or 4th best player to be a complementary piece. I guess it's inaccurate though if CP3 isn't a legitimate top 2 player on our squad. And some nights he isn't.

But I agree that Mikal is headed for better than a "complementary" role.
And I will point out that if he were truly "complimentary" that would indicate Bridges is going around telling players how nice they look today.

New word for today, "proprioception."

proprioception

[ proh-pree-uh-sep-shuhn ]

perception governed by proprioceptors, as awareness of the position of one's body.

Yeah.... I get it. We just weren't getting there. That's my take. We needed a change. You don't get blown out of your building to end your season like we did and then have other games where we got blown out the next year and then expect the be title contenders that same year.

We needed the change, and Mikal is the bridge to get us there.
Mikal is not a complimentary piece.

He is going to be an all star.
Not for us. I'm glad for him and for his opportunity, but that was not happening with us.

OTOH, most championship teams revolve around superstars. Only the bad boy Pistons come to mind in the last 30 years to buck that trend (kind of).

I do not get the Ted Lasso love, I have watched it all, but it is far from something I would describe as phenomenal.
Agree to disagree. It is phenomenal. The feel good series of all time and came right when the world needed it.

Season 1 definitely. I thought Season 2, while entertaining, stretched into some darkness that just felt like writers moving story instead of character (mostly the heel turn by Nate).

You hit the nail on the head there. Although I will say my favorite episode of this show was a Season 2 episode (the Christmas one).

True, that was sudden. It will be interesting to see how they close that out. Season 3 starts up March 15th, I believe.

Mikal wasnt going to be an all-star for us. If he becomes an all-star in BK, it’s because he was given the opportunity to be the “guy.” However, this situation is akin to Lauri Markkanen’s in Utah. The coach gave him the reins to the offense and Lauri rewarded him by being an all-star starter. However, Lauri isn’t the piece that makes you a championship contender, just a fringe playoff team. We know Mikal is hot garbage in the playoffs, so that tells you all you need to know about his value to a title contender.
