It took me a few years but I'm back to having Sunday's off so G,B,&U will be back in full force starting with this past Sunday's game which I was able to see in spite of being at work.
The Good
Carson Palmer-While he didn't have a great game % wise but he threw a beautiful bomb to John Brown that should put to rest any concern over his shoulder. For the season, in spite of missing 3 games, he's 4-0 with a 61% completion percentage with 8 TD's and more importantly, only 1 INT so far.
John Brown-This kid is having a great rookie season so far and he showed incredible poise making that catch in stride then holding onto the ball when it was nearly knocked from his hands. That TD is going to be replayed for years.
Red Zone Defense-The defense gave up a lot of yards, yes(see Bad), but they clamped down when it counted including a goal line stand that was the key to the ballgame.
Fitz-The old man still has it. That 80 yard catch and run was reminiscent of his TD catch and run in the Super Bowl. The 160 yards was too shabby either.
Antonio Cromartie-As bad as he was in the Denver game, he was great in this game. 2 key drive killing picks including one in the endzone(followed by an Eagle blocking another Eagle allowing Cro to gain some extra yards).
The Bad
500+ Yards-The reason why this isn't in the ugly category is because the defense clamped down when it counted. But you can't expect to give up this kind of yardage and keep winning. Eventually, like in the Denver game, it's going to blow up. The good thing is that even though we're giving up yards, we're not giving up points. 7 games so far and only 1 team(Denver) has scored more than 20 points.
Defensive Rush-Another game with no sacks. There were times when they pressured Foles but no one could lay a hand on him.
Michael Floyd-Was only targeted a few times but he dropped at least 2 key passes that I remember, one that could have been a score. But his lac of production could have been because the Eagles were keying on him as he's been our most productive WR so far which freed up Fitz and Brown.
The Ugly
Loud Cheering For The Opposition-This is ridiculous. I heard that a contingent of 30K Eagles fans made the trek. Don't know how accurate that is but it sure sounded like a lot of Eagles fans in our house. This should not be. Ever.
Challenges-Don't know what Arians was thinking about using 2 challenges in the first half not to mention that the 2nd one was just dumb. You need to pick and choose your spots with these.
Officiating-Was horrible on both sides. The horse collar call that saved the Eagles on a 3rd and long was ridiculous. The rule states that you have to have you hand on the neck portion of the shoulder pads, not the pads on the shoulders. What the officials are creating is a situation that once a ball carrier gets in front of a defender, their only option is to dive for the legs. Also, the Eagles linemen were holding, blatantly, on several key plays but no flags were thrown. And there were nearly 200 yards of penalties combined. The officials are making themselves too much a part of the outcome of the games.
Well, that's it for now. Feel free to add where you see fit.
