You can write off the Eagles from the Boldin trade marketplace.

The Buffalo Bills have traded Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.

In exchange for Peters, the Bills receive the Eagles’ 28th overall pick of the first round as well as a second-day draft pick in this year’s draft and a late-round draft pick in 2010.

Peters has been unhappy with his contract and hasn’t been attending the Bills’ offseason activities after staging a holdout last summer at training camp.

Presumably, Peters will be seeking a new deal from his new employers.

The Eagles needed an offensive tackle after starter Tra Thomas left in free agency. Jon Runyan is a free agent and has been battling injuries.

Eagles Acquire Jason Peters

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...s-trade-for-Bills-Pro-Bowl-LT-Peters?MSNHPHMA

The Eagles have acquired Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters from the Bills for the 28th overall pick in next week's draft, FOXSports.com has learned.

Buffalo will also receive a second-day pick in this year's draft, as well as a late-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Peters held out before the start of the 2008 season, missing Buffalo's entire training camp and all four of the team's preseason games. Peters ended his holdout before the regular season began, with the Bills never giving in to his contract demans.

Peters, 27, has made the Pro Bowl the last two seasons, and was an All-Pro selection in 2007.

well take them off the Boldin list. Peters wants to be highest paid OT in the game and I doubt they're going to shell out two mega-contracts in a weeks time.

I don't think this takes them off the table at all. They need to win now. Another rookie WR doesn't help. They still have their higher first available.

Besides, I think a Boldin-McNabb connection would thrive. Which is best that we don't send Boldin over there.

Money will be spent on giving Peters a big OT contract.

1. Philly got fleeced for the most overrated OT in the NFL. Rumor is its a 1,3 and a 2010 pick that can be as high as a 3rd if he goes to the pro bowl.

2. Philly is without a doubt not in the running for Boldin. For many reasons. Ried loves his draft picks and will not leave this draft with no 1st rounders left for him to use. They will not be working on getting a deal done with two high priced players at once in Peters and Boldin.

Except, they do not have much to offer that we would want now.

Agree with everything you say. Eagles are off the Boldin trade list for sure.

After this move, I bet that Eagles take RB with first pick.

What if Jeremy Maclin, Bey (getting alot of love now) or (gasp) Crabtree were to fall to #21? That changes things dramaticaly.

Basically I am just trying to talk myself into us having our choice of any RB on the board.

Buffalo is now right in front of us at 28. If they don't take an OT with their 1st I can see them taking Pettigrew with their first and English with their second. I sure hope not.

Disagree.

I don't think Peters is THAT great but he is a Top 5 tackle in the league. Peters is about as good at his position as Peters is at his (and a more important one at that) and we were expecting this type of haul for Q.

Granted they are going to pay him a ton of money but they have the cap room and a potential strong bookend set up with Andrews and Peters.

To get a stalwart at LT at the level you would expect to pay towards the beginning of the first round 1-7 pick instead of the 28th pick (where you would likely force a pick anyway for a young OT and haven't shown an ability to draft tackles early i.e Justice).

So they added a third to that. Sounds about right.

And if the Pro Bowl incentive is reached I don't think thats too crazy for a relatively young, established, Pro Bowl LT. I really don't. Otherwise its a second day pick which are a crap shoot anyway.

How convulted was that?:)

Basically I am saying I see the Eagles reasoning. If they are able to add a RB and WR in the first couple round thats offense could be scary.

A top 5 OT and Stalwart does not give up the the most sacks per pass attempt in the league like Peters did last year. A top 5 OT and Stalwart will be higher then 16th in the league in terms of YPC off left tackle. The guy stunk last year, he was used and abused. He has had one Good not great but Good year and one horrid year.

Not even a comparison to Boldins play over 6 straight years.

Jason Peters lead the league in sacks given up last season despite missing 3 games. Although it isn't as bad as Winston Justice who gave up 6 sacks in a single game (that has to be a record), he most definitely wasn't worth as much as they gave up.

I think that Peters is a good above average tackle. Top 5 is a stretch, though. I think the Bills could be very good from this trade because they can target a top tackle or pass rusher with #11 and take the one they don't get at #28. This deal will make Trent Edward's attempt for success in his make-or-break season a little harder.

My problem with the Eagles deal is that they did give up a decent amount of picks and will have to commit a sizeable amount of cap money to Peters since he is asking for Haynesworth-esque money. A positive is that the Eagles have a top tier and monstrous sized o-line. Maybe they'll be able to convert those 3-and-shorts that stymied them last year.

This is more to what I was getting at....

The Eagles aren't going to trade the 21st pick in the first-round for Boldin if they gave up the 28th for Peters, who given his age and position has higher value in the league than Boldin.
