Kevin Kolb-QB- Eagles Sep. 22 - 12:47 pm et

At his Tuesday press conference, Eagles coach Andy Reid refused to rule out a Kevin Kolb trade prior to the October NFL trade deadline.
Reid reemphasized that Kolb has "a bright future," but the Eagles are perhaps the most aggressive team in the league, having become even more so since GM Howie Roseman took over this offseason. We have to believe they'll listen to any trade proposals. The Browns were reported to have strong interest in Kolb during draft weekend, and there is plenty of quarterback uncertainty throughout the league. The Eagles will definitely get offers.

Most of the big guns addressing this issue say Kolb is going nowhere. His starting time will come soon enough.Vick can turn into a DOG anyweek in the future. If not injury due to the risks he takes.

Wow. If they're going to trade Kolb, they better damn well lock up Vick for the long term. Otherwise, they could be screwed next year with no QB.

I don't understand the impatience with Kolb. He's played one half of football and they're already going to trade him? Isn't he the reason they got rid of McNabb?

Doesn't make sense to me...

Might as well just start playing Max Hall if we were to look at Kolb.

I had heard that they loved Kolb inside the Eagles organization. Of course, maybe they were also tired of McNabb. But trading him now makes cutting Leinart this preseason look like a Supreme Court deliberation.

It also leaves the Eagles with Vick and their rookie 3rd stringer from Northwestern. I guess they could always sign Garcia again.

They've been mesmerized by Vick, but - as usual - it won't last long. I think it's Vick they may end up trading in the off season.

The problem is right now Kolbs market value is artificially low because he hasn't played that much, is coming off a concussion, and when he did play in preseason and the opener, he struggled.

THe Eagles apparently loved the kid, everyone else presumably sees talent too, but they're trading him at his low point. The only way to up his market value is to showcase him and then they need him to play well, which just creates a QB controversy.

I don't think they'll trade him, I think they're just trying to find out what other teams think he's worth.

They won't be trading Vick in the off season because he is a free agent at the end of the year.

If Kolb is available for say, a third or maybe even second round pick, I think we ought to go for it. He's the reason they felt comfortable letting McNabb go, not Vick. So, he's less of a gamble than even a first-round QB pick would be for us--we already know he's panned out to a degree and is far less likely to bust than anyone else we could draft.

Obviously, this year would likely be a wash--but he could learn the system with real bullets flying by the end of the season.

I'm sorry but the way things are looking 8-8 wins our division and I think we'll have a real shot at Ryan Mallett next year and Whiz can have a top tier QB to work with.

Luck may go higher but its a very close call at this point. We may be in top 5 pickers when this season is over.Gonna be one hell of a drama to watch unfold. We need pass rushers just as bad at this point too.Hoping Schofield is the steal of the draft for us.Since it seams Williams is gonna take some time getting his NFL feet.

I don't know about you guys but Kolb is horrible!!!
Based on what? His first two starts where he threw for back to back 300 yard-games last year? Or are you taking a what have you done for me lately POV and just looking at 2 quarters of football from this year?

Or is it based on the lack of faith the Eagles organization put in him by letting their star QB walk...oh, wait, that's actually quite a bit of faith they put in him. Nevermind.

Kolb is going to be a good starter in this league, IMO...and is light-years better than DA.

I think there's a chance he'll be a good starter and if the Eagles are admitting they're taking calls that means he's available. Will he be the next HOF quarterback? I don't know, but he seems to be in the mold of a Hasselback/Schaub, stuck in a bad situation where he'll never play. We make a move now, go with DA until Kolb gets a hold of the playbook, then insert him into the lineup and boom, we either know if we have a QB of the future or not, and i'm betting we probably would.

I would AT LEAST hope we're putting a call in. Passing on possible good QBs because we have an undrafted rookie FA on the bench would be dumber than passing on Big Ben and Philip Rivers because we needed to see what Josh Freaking McCown was going to do for us. The opportunity to get talented QBs in this league is rare. We either strike while the iron's hot or we'll be left out in the cold for a long time.

110 percent agreed all across the board.

It disgusts me how perception of a player changes on a quarter-by-quarter basis these days.

Kolb is going to be a good QB. Why Reid won't give the guy the chance is beyond me.. Other than buckling to public pressure from the Eagles who have a sudden obsession with Vick, them benching Kolb for Vick as the full time starter is a quick triggered move.

I completely understand why the Eagles are going with Vick...for now. He's red hot and you need to ride any momentum you can get in the NFL, IMO.

Now, why they'd entertain trade offers for Kolb is another story. I guess they must think the switch is permanent and are going to be looking to lock up Vick long-term. If that's the case, I'd do that FIRST. By announcing Kolb is available you're losing negotiation footing and driving up Vick's price.

KOlb doesn't have much more expierance than a rookie. Hall has shown that he has the smarts and arm to play at this level. In addition I would love us to devolope a winner where we can watch the guy for 10 years to come. I would have loved to see Lienart these first few games. Kolb has been hurt and already has one too many shots to the head.

Anderson is the guy now and looking back 20-20 we should have gotten McNabb he lives in the valley. But it is what it is. We got who we got!

I am a little leary of the guy. Been hot and cold for 3 years now. He is a tease.

But Contract should not be an issue if the Cards were thinking about it. He is signed through 2011 so it wouldnt be a rental player or forced to go into contract negotiations before a trade is made.

Crazy theory time. Who says he wont be here next year? There has to be a reason why he hasn't signed an extension yet with the Redskins right? Especially with the deep pockets of Snyder who isn't afraid to overpay. Could McNabb be asking for something crazy or not asking for anything at all in order to be a FA this coming offseason because he has a place he wants to go in mind? Doesn't help much this year though.
