Who do you pick in this scenario?

Kenneth Grant and Walter Nolan are off the board - highest rated DT left is Harmon.

I wanted to do a draft and avoid DL/ED early considering what we did in FA. Makes more sense now to pick a couple of guys that might need a little more development.

Not going to lie, I like this draft. I think Bank offers great Guard or tackle ability. Carson could get significant snaps. The 2 DL can be part of a rotation to develop and Frazier is an underrated right guard.

Horton is a deep threat with multiple 1000 yard seasons who did his knee in October.

I think the Cardinals need to draft a young off the ball LB to develop. The Cardinals haven't developed a good one in years.

I think people should prepare themselves for not drafting an Edge this year, not early anyway. There are going to be some nice developmental options later like Jah Joyner or O2. With Beej coming back plus Browning and Sweat, the FO isn't going to see Edge as a top priority any more.

And may not even get that considering they surely see XT as that development piece.

On PFF I took

16 - Matthew Golden - WR
47 - Landon Jackson - EDGE (Alexander was gone and he seemed like he fit a potential upgrade from Collins)
78 - Jonah Savaiianai - OL (OL help)

Putting this here to prepare people for no Edge and no DL until later.

I've seen rumors Jihaad is high on Monti board and it's an obvious weak spot.

FYI I love Jamaree Caldwell and think he goes in the 2nd but he was there.

I did a mock draft the other day, and it fell quite interestingly! All of the top Edge and DT were taken prior to the Cardinals pick. There were 4 second tier DT still on the board at pick #16 and a couple of second tier Edge players. With that many DL players still on the board it was easily worth the risk to trade down and still get a solid DL. Made a double trade-down and ended up trading #16, and then #22 for #25, #94, and LA Chargers 2025 5th round picks.

When pick #25 came nearly all of those DL under consideration were still there! Given that AND the Cardinals focus in the FA period, I figured it was time to "roll the dice"! I was able to select one the top 3-4 WR, in the draft; and a strong need for the Cardinals; In the second at #47, a DT that many are mentioning for the Cards at pick #16; I wasn't thrilled with the board at pick #78, so purely went highest rated player available; still got a solid DL selection at #94; a high potential OL pick at #115; pick #152 was a luxury pick, RB Kyle Monangai, really fits well in the Cardinals RB room; and finally at #225, took a shot on a QB I admittedly know little about, other than he has the requisite physical traits, and started for a winning program; at least he can provide Tune with competition!

The more I think about it the more I think they draft Josh Simmons. Unless there are some character concerns, which I doubt, it just makes too much sense. Monti likes Ohio guys, the OL coach is from Ohio, there's connections to other players. And Simmons played RT at San Diego before Ohio moved him to the left.

I'd be surprised if we draft Edge but I do think there is a little wiggle room in the roster to draft DL and I like Collins. Nobody has been drafting safety but the Cards have met with at least 2, Kevin Winston is a forgotten gem after missing last year.
