I'm surprised to see Boise ranked at #8 after three games. It has usually taken a whole seasonto even sniff the top 10, and we only finished #5 after the fiesta bowl. I have a feeling they are pretty close to their highest possible ranking, and will probably get jumped as other teams keep winning.

I could see us getting to #5 with a few more top teams losing, but it would take 2 losses by everyone to get any higher than that.

For what? WHat have they done to be ranked #8? This is a travesty and one of the many reasons a playoff needs to happen. Boise has played no one and there toughest opponent for the reaminder of the season is who, San Jose St? Their game against Oregon was talked about as a title shot game b/c of the weakness of their remaining schedule. "Beat Oregon and Boise will run the table"...

IF you are Boise and you play in the WAC and you want to make a stink about being a BCS calliber team, at least schedule someone other than Bowling Green, Cal-State Davis (div 2), and Miami-OH as your OOC teams. Sickening.

They are maybe, maybe, in the 20-25 range, but #8? really? terrible!

That's why I said "Surprised" to see the ranking so high. The WAC is really bad, so it's hard to say how good this Boise team really is. You can do comparisons based off of who teams we have played and how they did, but even with that it's hard to gauge.

Our conference games hurt our schedule more than anything else. We've lost 4 conference games since we joined the WAC. The OOC schedule is getting tougher next year (Which it needs to be) with going on the road to Va Tech and Playing Oregon State.

Part of the respect could be coming from the fact that we have had 2 undefeated regular seasons in the past three, lost by 1 point to TCU last year, and beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl and are starting to get recruits that would normally go to bigger schools. Also the success of other non-BCS teams like Utah helps as well.

I'm with you though. We need to playoff, and Boise needs a new conference.

Probably not.
Florida stays #1 with a bye next week.
Alabama should beat Kentucky.
Texas has a bye and still hasn't played anyone worth a crap.

LSU needs to lose for Boise State to pass them. That could happen against Georgia.

If Oklahoma beats hell out of Miami, they could pass Boise.

With Oregon kicking the beegeezus out of Cal, USC's loss doesn't look as bad now.

You are probably right Wally. I can se us moving us 1-2 spots, but getting jumped at the end of the year. We need Oregon to keep on winning, because no one else on our schedule is helping the SOS.

The jumping has already started. Dropped to #7 in the BCS from #4 after winning 54-9 and TCU has jumped us as the highest ranked non-BCS team. TCU has been very impressive this year. I think it's a combination of our schedule strength and playing in a bad conference.

It will be interesting how the rest of the year plays out. I think some of the teams ahead of Boise in the rankings will lose, but it will be interesting to see what happens. Our only hope rests on Oregon. If they can beat USC and win the PAC-10, it helps our SOS a lot. They might even jump us too.:)

I hope the move to the MWC conference can happen soon. At least we could be assured that wining the conference would mean the BCS.

Still a long ways to go.
