TAMPA -- The Diamondbacks have not officially announced a starter for Thursday's game against the Devil Rays, but indications are that it will be Edgar Gonzalez. The right-hander was pulled from his start for Triple-A Tucson on Monday night after one scoreless inning presumably so that he would still be able to pitch Thursday. Thursday's original starter, Kevin Jarvis, was designated for assignment Monday.
Gonzalez, no relation to fellow Arizona starter Enrique Gonzalez, is 2-4 with a 3.76 ERA in Tucson and was among the leaders in the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts (78) and innings pitched (88 2/3).
Gonzalez, 23, has appeared in 20 games for the D-Backs during parts of the 2003-2005 seasons. This will be his first big-league action this year.

I guess the corresponding roster move would be to place Hairston on the DL...

Bringing-up Edgar Gonzalez over Micah Owings or any othero of the Dbacks promising pitching prospects seems more logical since at least Edgar has some ML experience and probably could endure a higher pitch count compared to the others who have barely just started pitching at the AAA level... Fortunately they're bringing-up some younger talent than just starting some retreads out there.....
