Looked like knee was down at the 10 second mark

I think it was a fumble but it looks like his body may have been touching the sidelines while touching the ball. That would make it a dead ball.

This. Thank you.

A couple of people have already stated, but I'm going to re-iterate: It is irrelevant if Edmonds knee touched down or not; it is irrelevant if Edmonds lost possession of the ball prior to being down, i.e.- fumbled. Because part of Edmonds body was out of bounds while he is in contact with the ball. The play is dead and over at that moment, and that moment occurred prior to possession by the Dallas player. Therefore Cardinals retain possession of the ball where it is determined to be out of bounds.

The play was ruled upon correctly.

It wasn't challenged, it wasn't reviewed, therefore, it was NOT a fumble. Cards win!!!!
Oh if dallas could have challenged u know cards would get screwed lol that was massive play if cowboys rec that cards lose prob

It was 100% a fumble....The ball was loose before a knee hit...Those who say his knee was down... Well... It's the first of the year, your benefits have reset, and it's time to get a new pair of glasses.

Even if Dallas had a challenge.... It would have been ruled out of bounds before a clear recovery..maybe lol

Glad it didn't come to that.

No it should have been rule unnecessary roughness. He tackled him by the inside of his helmet.
You are right, never looked at that.

Basically the right ruling would have been:

Fumble, first player to touch the fumble was out of bounce so Cards retain posession.
Unnecessary roughness 15 yards penalty and automatic first down.

So basically, we got robbed there XD great to know ... gosh...

I’m not quite getting all the whining and crying that emanated from the Dallas locker room following the game. NFL refereeing is, on the whole, atrocious, but I did not sense it negatively affecting the outcome of yesterday’s game. Am I missing something?

Agreed. I think they said on the broadcast that Dallas leads the league in penalties. This shouldn't be a surprise.

Referee crews by penalties:

Novak was the crew yesterday. 2nd highest crew calling penalties with the highest penalized team (Cowboys).

Dallas just feeling what other teams go through

At home they are used to getting favoritism and when it's fair they don't know how to react

Agreed. I thought that the Dallas offensive line and CBs were really bad. Felt their could have been holding/pass interference on almost every play. They are whining, because they are a team full of whiners -- not because they have a legitimate case

Cards outplayed Dallas yesterday by a fair margin, in addition to getting hit was many or more questionable calls as Dallas. Guess it just shows the team's character.

I can't tell if he's out of bounds or not but if he touched the ball while out of bounds yes the play is over

I saw tons of uncalled holds from T. Smith on Chandler Jones. At least four. It couldn't have been much worse for them.

They play undisciplined.

On the officiating there were some bad calls and some no calls but at a certain point come on. There's a blatant hold on the Cowboys TE that takes away a run, the ref calls it and they show the TE staring at the ref clapping like nice call buddy way to screw us. Then they show the replay and even Aikman conceded it's an obvious hold.

There were at least 3 bad spots yesterday that all favored Dallas, one they were short of the first down the ref gave them the first down and Kliff didn't challenge. On the player stepped out at the 7 yard line they gave him the 5. The last was a play where I think Ertz got the first down they spotted him short, Kyler was screaming at the sidenline waving his arms because they wanted it challenged but Kliff didn't we nearly got a penalty on the play because it took so long before Kyler realize he's not challenging I have to snap it. We got the first down on the next play but should never have come to that.

Even that double pass from the Wr to the RB, they had linemen downfield on the side where the WR was, you can see several Cards players pointing it out because part of why our defense fell for that so hard is they were blocking downfield for the scren pass.

The knee did NOT hit the ground, though. It looked like it did, but not when we got the closeup.
I agree it was a clear fumble because the knee did not hit the ground and regardless of the knee the ball was moving first which is what the refs look at when they review a fumble. I can’t blame the ref behind the play because he probably thought he saw the knee hit the ground and could not see the ball. I didn’t know the ball went out of bounds though.

I missed a lot of the penalties, but smith playing that poorly is alarming for Dallas. His backup was playing well for most of the season. The cowboys o-line has to eat that loss and they have been up and down all year with penalties. I think they are overrated for sure. I will say though that dak had time on some of those plays he just made bad throws. Dallas RB’s also dropped some passes.

I know it's a still picture, but on another angle that knee isn't down, even though it looks it at this angle.

Agree, I don't think the knee was down when the ball came out. It was so very close.

I'm glad it wasn't reviewed. The referees would probably still be looking at it today.
