I like it Ed. If we pass on Johnson if he's available in Round 3, I'll be pissed.

I don't think we'll pass in 3 but i can't see this team using a #2 on a center with the defense in this state.

If we took Johnson or Faine in 2, I don't think anyone would complain too much though.

good post Ed. I like almost all your reasoning. The only difference that I would pick is in round 4, I believe it was, where you took a wide receiver. I think that Justin Gage might still be available at that time and I think that he has the ability to step in on day one and help. Not be a 2-3 yr. project.

Gage and Mike Bush were 2 guys I considered there but they might be gone. Definitely more polished but the lack Calico's incredible upside.

I agree about Round 2 (not picking a center) since we just signed Frank Garcia. I think that Johnson will end up being a franchise center wherever he ends up. That's why I think that it would be a mistake to pass on him if he's available in Round 3.

As far as complaints for a Round 2 pick, there will be none from me.

As far as the Cardinals not showing interest in Leftwich. Graves several times has raved about how good of a personality he has and how the really liked him. His attitude really changed when he was talking about Leftwich during the KDUS interview after the combine.

Sorry but this mock draft is a complete joke. You have the nerve to leave out all the extra picks we are going to get for TJ and you expect us to take this drivel seriously? :D

In all seriousness, good work. I am a bit surprised you have Trufant all the way up at #6 but I would love that pick. I assume that means you have Newman off the board by then. Maybe you think Trufant would be the better choice if both were available.

I like Peek there but was kind of hoping Redding would be there in early round 2 (it does seem unlikely).

I kind of get the sense that Calico will go earlier (not suggesting he deserves to). That would be a nice pickup in the 4th.

Your 7th rounder surprises me a bit...I admit I know nothing about this guy...because even with a 7th rounder I am not sure the Cards should take a huge project there. I liked Krang's thoughts on snagging Bollinger there if available.

Good job Ed.

Ed has a low opinion of our WRs, hence the 2 picks to fix that problem.

I like our WRS better than he does but anticipate losing both Jenkins and Sanders, so in the end, I think Ed will be right in predicting we'll pick 2 WRs.

Interesting draft. We'll soon see how it plays out. In 30 days to be exact.

Good job Ed, though I don't think Talico will last until the fourth.

The Raiders or another team that has the luxury of not having guys make an immediate impact WILL take him at the end of round 2 or at worst the end of round 3.

Ed, I wouldn't mind nabbing Trufant there, but if Leftwich is available (assuming he is healthy and has a decent workout) I want us to draft him. Possible star CB v Possible star QB...there is no comparison.

Peek in round 2? I'm not sure about the experts, but he'll probably be available in the third, IMO. I'd rather take Bryant Johnson at WR there...we need impact WR, not projects. A project may pan out in several years, if at all. Granted, Johnson probably won't be a starter year one, but should have a better chance of being one quicker than a late-round project.

Do you think Al Johnson will be there in the third? I think he'll be long gone, but it'd be a great pick in the third, if he were available.

I'm sorry, those of you that are tired of hearing this, but just because you've heard it before doesn't make it any less true...

Pay attention, people! We have our QB of the future, and, like it or not, his name is Josh McCown. They said it when we drafted him as the 3rd QB off the board last year, and they said it the day that we signed Blake.

That being said, I'd also like to add that McCown is no less a "possible star QB" than Leftwich or, for that matter, Carson Palmer are. I'd rather have a "possible star" CB or DE or DT that can still be "good" players than a "possible star" QB who could just as easily end up Cade McNown. Much rather.

If some team wants to blow a #2 on Calico, that's their loss.

Regarding Jim's comment, my predictions are never based on what I think the team should do, it's based on what I think they will do. While they are clearly very happy with the "Jerry's Kids" at WR, I think from a sheer numbers perspective they'll go after a few more bodies in the draft.

Sitting around and doing the "well If I were the GM" stuff is a waste of time, this is based on how I think the organization perceives its own needs. For example, the fact that I would pick Byron Leftwich is irrelevant, since with Blake and the highly-praised McCown, I don't think it's realistic that the organization will take him.

And to AZCB, I explained in the article that I think Trufant is the superior cover man even if Newman is available, but I freely admit that if they were both there the pick would be a toss-up.

I was thinking the same thing.

I would be seriously disappointed if we even selected him....he was terrible at the combine and should slip big time.

Terrible at the combine but excellent on the field. Therein lies the conundrum!

Not sure where you got your information from but I read on a website that Rein Long was stiff and rescheduled his campus workout for Mar 28th. He is a hustler on the field and I doubt he will fall out of the first round. I thought he was the best value in the 2nd round plus he will team up w/Wendell hopefully to form a good young DT tandem.

Long was unstoppable in some games. He plays football like his ass is on fire and that doesn't always show up in "workouts".

Love the Trufant pick, first time Ed and I agreed on the Cardinal first round pick.

I think Peek is a bit of a reach with such an early second round pick. He will probably still be there in the third.

With the depth at the Center position in the draft this year, I think the Cards wait until Day 2 to go after one. I find it hard to believe that Johnson will be there for us in the third round. However if he does fall to us, it would be a great pick.
