According to the Washington Post blog about Edwards:

"...so far, no one has landed the mercurial wideout who will likely demand something close to the five-year, $50 million contract former teammate Santonio Holmes got in New York...."

I got news for Edwards....he ain't getting $50mil from anybody. If he wants us to break the bank it's not going to happen.

I don't think Edwards is in a rush to sign because he isn't getting what he wants. I wouldn't be opposed to offering the guy a longer term contract with manageable guarunteed money that we can get out of relatively easily (i.e. Eagles signed Cullen Jenkins to a 4-year deal, but can essentially get out of the deal after next year @ $4M). If Edwards proves to be a great side kick to Larry and you can make it work financially, then keep him around a little longer.

the market for Edwards is small and getting smaller. Teams who really needed WRs have dealt with the issue. His only hope for a big payout is a team who gets their deals done then has a bunch of money left to spend to get to the salary floor. The odds of that are very slim. I still like our chances of landing him on a short term deal.

Not sure what the Cards see in him to be honest. He is the anti-Fitz.

if the dude wants to win and put himself in an offense where he can probably have the most success setting himself up for next off-season which won't be as hectic as this one, this is where he should go.

if all he wants is money, he should go to washington and enjoy losing and the end of his career for all intents and purposes because that offense is going to suck and so will his numbers.

LOL. We're getting a little ahead of ourselves here, aren't we? Considering that Braylon is a deep threat and Kolb's arm strength and eye level aren't there for that kind of passing attack (though we'll see I guess), I think this is a little presumptuous, especially when he'll have to share touches with Fitz and Todd Heap.

In all honesty, I think that Minnesota is the best landing spot for Braylon if it's a one-year deal. He'll be operating out of a run-heavy offense where he had success in Cleveland and New York, and McNabb remains one of the best deep-ball passers in the NFL.

he's a speed guy who makes some big plays and stretches a defense. that's what they see in him.

Braylon ran a 4.45 at the 2005 Combine. He's a no-heart Larry Fitzgerald, not a speedster. In pretty much every way he's the opposite of Steve Breaston. Signing him would make me far less happy with the roster that we brought to camp.

Edwards certainly has his off-field issues, but he's not exactly the polar opposite of Fitz. As diva WRs go, he's not too bad.

I do think he's going to be best suited in an offense where he's not the focus, and if he comes to the realization that his value isn't what he thinks it is, maybe he can come here, inflate his numbers while the best CBs cover Fitz and then in a year or two go on to "greener" pastures. I'd be okay with renting him because he IS an exceptional talent, and I think we'd finally have the deep threat next to Fitz that we've all been hoping for.

He's exactly what we need as a #2. With him, receivers like Fitz, Roberts, Doucet, Heap and RB's out of the backfield can work the short to interim routes. When was the last time the Cards had a true, legit NFL deep threat? Boston maybe???

Floyd would also work this way, so, if we don't pick up Edwards, I REALLY hope we find the way to snag Floyd!!

This.

He gets behind the coverage. With that, and Heap sucking up all the underneath coverage, Fitz would go romping, stomping nuts.

DeSean Jackson would have to disagree. So would Maclin.

exactly... but K9's got his new whipping boy in Kolb so whatever he can do to slam him, I'm sure he will.

I thought the Cards would sign him with a 1 to 2 year deal. I don't trust him with too much guaranteed, long term money. He will turn on you when things don't go his way.

Fitz wants him to be the #2 so that is what the Cardinals see in him.

I want to apologize to K9 for my post where I slammed him for bagging on Kolb. far be it from me to criticize someone for being negative after I was off the deep end last week. just glad I'm not there anymore. hopefully you'll be proven wrong like I believe I've been proven wrong and you'll join me for some Kool-Aid come gametime!

He is also in trouble with the law frequently which goes against how the Cards operate.
