Eisley/Our #1 in 2005 for cap space?

we tried to trade the #7 to get rid of eisley and their were no takers. we are going to be stuck with eisley for awhile.

I don't know why Utah wouldn't do that trade. They've got more cap space than they are going to be able to use. It would be a good pick, and they know and like Eisley in Utah.

No point in making the trade unless we already have the free agent lined up. So keep making the interviews, get Utah in line, and if someone like Sheed bites, do the deal.

Can't say it'll happen, but its not a bad idea.

My feeling is that the essence of the deal might get included in a much bigger multiteam/multiplayer deal. Straight up it doesn't look promising, but a deal that needs a draft pick or some of the cap space might be put together.

It would be nice if Eisley had played better with the Suns. Even his early stats with the Knicks while poor were much better than what he did in Phoenix. In 2002-03 he was almost "OK", 41.7% shooting, 38.9% for three, 5.4 assists per game in 27.4 minutes. He was not worth his contract, but he was hardly the stiff the Suns saw.

My hope is that he will get showcased during the preseason and then maybe somebody with a need for a PG might be interested. Until they have a chance to showcase him, his on court performance in Phoenix makes him virtually untradeable.

Not only Utah, but you would have to think Charlotte (probably also Atlanta) would really consider this. It would hamper some of their ability to sign free agents this summer, and maybe even next.

But they would have two lottery picks next year (theirs and the pick we give them via Chicago), and assuming Cleveland gets in the playoffs another pick, all to build around Okafor. Plus they are only on
the hook to eisley for two years, and could spend huge in the 2006 offseason, around a core of 5/6 lottery or near lottery picks.

Ultimately if Kobe wants to be here, there are varouis ways to clear the remaining 6.1 million (assuming they have 7.5 million left which is what they told Gambo). Not that I see it happening, Kobe’s staying in LA, I’m just saying it’s possible.
