Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart already broke most of Eli Manning's passing records during his tenure as a Rebel, and he'll have another opportunity to follow in his footsteps at the professional level. Dart was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday evening after the New York Giants traded up to the No. 25 pick.

Over 20 years ago, Manning endured a similar fate, as he ended up with the Giants on draft night after a major trade was made. He, like Dart, left Oxford, Mississippi, as the program's all-time leader in several different passing categories, and the two became close during Dart's career at Ole Miss.

"Jaxson, congratulations on being drafted by the New York Giants," Manning said. "Obviously, there's a strong connection between Ole Miss quarterbacks and the Giants, going back to Charlie Conerly. I'm excited that that tradition will continue with you."

Manning went on to talk about what Dart should expect in New York, and how he'll be rooting for him going forward.

"I'm not gonna sit here and tell you what a great organization the Giants are, it will not take you long to figure that out by yourself," said Manning. "It's been an honor and a lot of fun rooting for you these past three years at Ole Miss, and I looked forward to rooting for you for the Giants for the next 15 years."
