Why? Because Al Davis will trade his pick to some team desperate for Eli's services. It doesn't even matter if this would be beneficial for the Raiders or not, it will give Davis the attention he is always clamoring for and make some people say what a smart football mind he has or... once had... found a coach yet Al?

I could see the Raiders trading down. They have a lot of needs. I could see the Saints making a move. The Saints are a team with enough talent for hope but enough egos to sink them. I have a feeling the Saints will re-tool their roster this year. They need a solid QB who plays to win. Brooks seems really cocky, and he has no reason to act like he's a superstar. He and Keyshawn should go to the Skins.

I have an idea.. I'll apply for the Head coaching job for the Raiders.... when I get in i'll screw up the draft so badly that they will never win another game. I will also coach them into the ground and be fired by mid season..... BUt i will have signed a multi year contract worth millions, so I won't care.

If you get the job, can I be an overpaid assistant coach? Maybe OC?

The top 3 players will come off the board in whatever order they should come off.

All 32 teams are rating prospects and establishing boards. If, as many people here say, Fitzgerald and Taylor are rated at least as highly as Manning and Roethlisberger, it's just as likely that - should Big Al want to trade down - a team will leapfrog us in order to nail down Taylor or Fitzgerald and not necessarily to steal Manning from under our noses.

It will all boil down to (a) how we rate the 2 QB's and other highly regarded players, (b) whether we rate Manning or any other player that much higher than 2 others and (c) whether we rate one of them high enough to be willing to give up players and/or picks to go up and get him.

We don't know what the Cardinal brass is thinking. Nothing's as much of a lock as some of us may think.(

Maybe

If it happens, who is not stopping goofy Snyder and the Redskins going after Eli... and after 5 years and five head coaches I will have to see to believe that Synder won't interfer with Joe Gibbs (he probably did it to Marty who is old school with a reputation). The Dallas Cowboys if they don't go after a Brunell in free-agency might not want to let their hopes ride on Quincy Carter. I don't care what the Cowboys say about Carter so far, the draft is all about smoke screens. A number of things can happen with owners like Synder and Jones with a willing Davis dangling the pick. Then again as stated, Eli might fall to us and we will find out on drat day what Green and his staff's true opinion of him is. Heck, the Chargers still suffering from the Ryan Leaf affair might pull out if Brees is their QB of the future in their minds for some added picks or some players in the trade. Eli seems like a wild card that could really cause some mad swaps.

There are a couple factors that will limit either San Diego or Oakland’s ability to trade down for a huge bevy of draft picks—

First is that after the Cardinals at #3, the first team you get to that has a glaring QB need is Pittsburgh at #11. Moving up from 11 is awfully tough if you don’t have two first rounders. After that, you have to go to Tampa at 15 and Miami at 20 to find teams that might want a first round QB. Neither have the draft pick ammo to make that huge move.

Also, if you are SD or Oak, do you really want to trade out of super blue chip area?

Last, Drew Henson continues to lurk. His rights can probably be acquired for a single first round pick, or more likely, a second and another mid rounder. This will also tend to take a little steam out of the trade up market.

Well, who needs a franchise QB....Green Bay - Favre needs to start teaching his replacement, Oakland - Gannon is 95 and Tuasiposo didn't really seem to have any answers, Arizona - Obviously, Giants - Collins is Mr Mediocrity, Miami - they may stay with Fiedler/Griese combo but they need to find a real QB as do the Bucaneers, Dallas - Carter and Huchinson, Parcells could perform a miracle I suppose, Redskins - Snyder will do anything to get what he wants, Bears maybe??

Who's to say if one of the QB kids are still there at #3 that someone of Snyder's stature wouldn't be willing to make a sick deal? Would a goofy "trade the draft for Ricky Williams" deal temper the Eli talk?

I'm in the Eli school, but a whole set of extra picks? I think I'd get over it soon.

Miami will probably go after Brunnell and after all the draft picks they traded for Ricky Williams and a with 10-6 record they don't really have the ammo to trade up to a top 2 spot. Plus with their offensive system not being QB reliant they may be happy with a 2nd tier QB. Also I read another post on here quoting Marino saying he likes Rivers.

Tampa won't trade up for several reasons. 1) they recently gave up 4 draft picks for Gruden. 2) Johnson may not be a big name QB but he is the 3rd most accurate passer in NFL history. 3) everything I've read out of Tampa is that they are very happy with Chris Simms. By the time Johnson hangs it up he should be ready.

Washington won't becuase they have a 1st round QB already who can be pretty good if he actually gets decent blocking. Gibbs will not trade up for a QB in the first 2 picks.

Parcells is more into trading down for multiple picks than trading up for 1 high pick.

I've heard several quotes before Fitzgerald was declared from Al Davis saying that if he entered the draft, he would not make it past the Raider's pick at #2. he's enamored with him. That means a QB slides to us. If he likes him that much, no way he trades down and runs the risk of missing him.

I know Fitzgerald has petitioned the NFL to be drafted, but I haven't heard that he is officially in the draft. If he is, then we will get one of the top two QB's. If not, then I think we'll get DB-S Taylor. I hope Fitz gets in.
