When are they going to realize that this guy is horrible and just accept that they got taken in the Durazo trade and let someone else get a chance in the rotation? WE have given this guy so many leads that he has just blown, his location is almost always horrible, he was lucky he didnt allow more runs today. He allowed 13 baserunners in 4 2/3 innings.

I agree, he is horrible. If Randy and Curt were healthy, there is no way this guy would be in the rotation. He is signed through 2005, so I think we are stuck with him. He reminds me of Reynoso. D-Back management had their head up their ass when they acquired this guy.
His ERA is 5.38 he's given up 104 hits in 83 2/3 innings.

On a positive note, my man Alex Cintron is hitting .321

Is it my imagination or does Alex have a small head? :)

i concur. fudd does it again. man, it turns out i was right about him being an idiot all along. the only difference between him and alpo is that he's not as gopherball-prone, hence, keeping us in games more often.

yeah, cintron makes me wana jump up and down with glee. how the heck did we get our grubby paws on a player so good? btw, anybody have any input on cintron's feilding? i haven't been able to watch him enough to make conclusions. geezes, our farm system is really coming through isn't it?

and yes, he does have a small head.

Would the Diamondbacks trade Dessens? I don't think so because it would prove the Durazo trade was a terrible one. They could of gotten Millwood for Durazo.

They could have gotten Millwood for anyone. Every team was offered Millwood before the Phillies. Millwood makes something like $15 million, no way the Dbacks could afford that.

Millwood only makes around $10 mil, that's what the Phillies reached with him to avoid arbitration.

As bad as the trade was, the worst thing that Joe Jr. did was draft a two year contract with Dessens that obligates them for next year. That was insane and unnecessary.

The only good thing about signing Dessens for two years was that the Reds basically paid that for the Diamondbacks when they included cash with the trade.

I only wish that were so, but the D-Backs only got a million bucks. What Dessens signed for was $3 mil this year, $4 mil next year and an option year in 2005 with a $300,000 buyout.

What I'm not sure of is whether he was a free agent this year or after 2004. He either has 3, 4 or 5 years of Major League Service. I can't tell because the rules of what counts as a year are not clear to me. The media guide should state how many. If he was not going to be a free agent after this year, which he doesn't appear to have been, then the contract was totally ludicrous.
