I don't know if anyone has seen "Rescue Dawn" (it's a pretty interesting and impressive movie, though not without its flaws), but I recently found out that Elton Brand is a producer on it. I'm not even sure what to think of this. Is there a less likely person to produce a Werner Herzog movie set in Laos starring Christian Bale? I don't know.

Maybe it just means he bankrolled part of it? You know, like the infamous "Associate Producer Credit" in State and Main?

He had to have put money into it. I see no other way he could have gotten involved. And he obviously wasn't on set or anything. I think he just wanted to get into the movie business and saw this as a legitimate way in. Good for him, and I applaud that he went for this kind of a movie as well.

He got interested in it from his friend Baron Davis, who himself has produced several movies. He also said he busted his ass in production, and its the executive producers that just sit around and collect paychecks.

Think espn interviewed him.
