He was also out on the field up in the refs face screaming something at him after the 2 personal fouls on Wilson. Anyone who thinks Emmitt is just doing this purely for money couldn't be more WRONG.

What?
I'd lay money down that Emmitt is holding down a coaching slot here next season.

Your right hes doing it because he wants to pad his stats.

Emmitt can look at Marcell Shipp and see who is the more talented RB at this point in there careers. Its no secret.

Theres no way no matter how big his ego is that he truely thinks he is the best option for this team when he gets healthy, if he does he isnt very smart.

Yet I bet he doesnt volunteer to back Shipp upon his return like he should! Well see if he is a team player and does whats best for the team when hes healthy again!

I don't know if the following makes sense, but -

Just as someone like Bill Parcells can turn around an entire team in a short period of time, if putting a team on a winning track is what we're all interested in, I have no problem bringing in Emmitt Smith to lead and inspire our team regardless if he plays another down for us.

I think his presence on the sideline justifies the money we're paying him so long as he fills this mission.

I kind of think of Emmitt as "Assistant Coach in Charge of Teaching and Firing Up Players."

(And if he can return to the field and gain some yards for us, that would tres cool also).

Not to say we aren't already deep at RB - Lost in the shadow of Marcel Shipp's big day -

Damien Anderson, Baby!!!!!!!

So how did he pad his stats yesterday? He was required to be fired up and get in people's faces in a game he wasn't playing in? Get out of here....that was passion from a passionate player that wants to win.

Like I said, we will see how bad he wants to win when he returns healthy and if he allows Shipp to be sent to the bench!

Cheering on your teamates while hurt isnt anything special its something every player should do and most do unless your David Boston!

This isn't his call to make.

Yes it most certainly is! Mcginnis already stated that Emmitt wil start upon his return! If Emmitt did the right thing he would go into Mcginnis and say I think Shipp should remain the starter and I will back him up!

That would show me he is a team player and willing to do the tough things to help this team win. We all know and he knows whos the better RB! Its no secret!

If Emmitt says play Shipp, then Emmitt should be cannonized. If Bidwill really hates losing, he'll start Shipp.

You know exacly what I mean! you are just trying to argue over semantics. You know Emmitt, if given his job back has final say! He could relinquish as he should!

So tell me then if mac comes in the locker room and states that Emmitt is the starter when healthy. Thus the coaches decision(you are correct)

Emmitt then takes the starting nod and plays as the starter. You think he has no choice in that matter? You think hes doing whats best for this team?

Then the whole team could start chanting "Rudy!, Rudy, Rudy!". And then Coach Mac would have no choice but to play him. Then we could write a book and make a movie about it.

How do you figure.

I expect the players to do as they are told by the coaching staff. Their job is to play and execute to the best of their ability. I would say that second quessing the coaches' decisions are down on the list of things that I expect from a player in the NFL.

Wow a thought out well articulated response

Thanks!

If thats how you feel thats cool. I respect that! But your Rudy comments were laughable at best.

Many times in this league and over the years players while given the nod have benched themselves or taken themselves out for the good of the team, it has happened. Are you saying that when a player recognizes this he shouldnt do that because the coach has a blind eye?

No more so than your insinuation that any player in the NFL would go to the head coach and tell him that his personnel decisions are wrong and that he would like for him to change it.

I wouldn't want to go into a game with a player that would volunter his starting spot for any reason what so ever.

Name one?

I guess, if, I'm to buy into your contention... football is quite different from other team sports.

I made my living for 10 years playing hockey and I have never even heard of anybody who, if healthy - took himself out of the lineup.

I've seen guys zippered for 20, 30 stitches in period one, and back in for the second. Guys hit so hard they puke their guts out... and hardly miss a play.

Bottom line: If the coach says your in the lineup... you don't question it because a) you believe in yourself and b) if you don't - it may be the last time you ever suit up.

Christ!!! It took ALS to get Lou Gehrig to drop his mitt...
