I would counter that without Tim Duncan the Spurs would be even worse than the Lakers without Shaq, and without KG the Timberwolves would be even worse than that.

As I said, there is no objective way to pick the MVP.
Duncan and Garnett as as deserving as Shaq.

if we are basing it on how the team would do without a certain player, the magic would be pretty bad without mcgrady....

not saying he's mvp, but i would consider him at least up there. even though they don't have the greatest record, he IS their team

I agree that Tracy McGrady should be and MVP candidate, and his team would be one of the worst in the NBA without him. But the problem is that the magic would have ended up somewhere between Memphis and Golden State if they played in the Western Conference. They barely grabbed the last spot in the LEastern Conference playoffs.
