I don't care if he makes 10 million. Next time that idiot pops up, he should be on the next bus to Reno.

He leads the majors in pop ups. It's pathetic. I'm glad the fans have had enough of him. The boos are getting louder each game.

You have to wonder why the Hitting Coach has not influenced Eric Byrnes to lose the one-handed sky-high uppercut swing.

How could it possibly produce satisfactory results?

Regarding hitting coach Rick Schu, today's Arizona Republic reported:

As for Schu, who has been a batting instructor in the organization since the team's inception and is in his second stint as the club's hitting coach, his job seems safe for now.

"He's got the organization's confidence, the players' confidence and the manager's confidence," Melvin said.

But if the Diamondbacks continue to sputter at the plate, where they were hitting .225 with a league-worst .282 on-base percentage, Schu will keep hearing calls for his job.

"It's a shame," Reynolds said. "I've known Schuey since '04; he came up with a lot of these guys in here, knows everybody's swing, and he works his (butt) off."

"He knows everybody's swing"? Is he writing a book or getting paid to produce results?

I played baseball from junior high to junior college. They drill into your head not to swing at the first pitch.... Not only does it get other guys on deck and in the dugout more looks at the pitcher, it gives the hitter more looks at release and timing....... however it seems nearly every player takes it upon himself to swing at the first pitch and either tops the ball to 3rd or pops up. I want to punch myself in the face.

Just an idea... but does any think that the hamstring injury has anything to do with his swing problems the last year and a half? Did he start compensating for the injury last season and into spring training this season by dipping down more as he swings causing the pop ups? Maybe he just hasnt gotten his swing back where it should be yet... I dont remember him having this problem 2 years ago.

Whatever the problem is, I hope he figures it out quick.

He was doing this before last season, in the playoffs, and has really struggled pretty much since signing his extension.

I've played baseball my whole life, and it's always been more of a personal preference thing. Some guys like to jump on the first strike, some like to take some pitches and see what he's trying to do. I never had a coach definitively say either do or don't swing at the first pitch.

Barry Zito's twitter page:

I wonder if these two idiots know that they're public enemy #1 in two respective metropolitan areas? Less sunset walks on the beach, more batting practice Byrnesie.

Who has time for BP when he's designing his new clothing brand and shooting his ******** tv show where he can hang with his friends and act like an idiot?

He is the ultimate clown, and has absolutely no touch on reality...the fact that he still has time for all this crap is insulting to everybody on the team and associated with the team. Being a team player isn't about showing fake hustle and doing somersault throws. Unfortunately he's killed our payroll, and the insult on top of the injury is the ******* show.

I saw that piece on the Byrnes show too about his (ridiculous looking) clothing line. I would cower if I were not living up to my contract.

Luis Castillo is 2nd in the NL in batting average. The player the D'backs apparently turned down in a trade for EB

A few days ago, Eric Byrnes jogged from 2B to 3B on a passed ball . . . and was thrown out.

If I were Eric Byrnes' Manager, I'd tell him, "The next time you showboat --whether it's doing somersaults on fly balls in the outfield or that wild one-handed uppercut swing or not running your tail off -- I'm going to put you at the end of the bench, and you will never get into a D'backs game again.

"Your salary is not my concern. It's the General Manager's. You'll rot there until they decide to get rid of you.

"That'll give you time to think about your idiotic TV show and count your money."

Hey guys, can you picture Gonzo ever disgracing the team like that? I can't.
