A few days ago, Eric Byrnes jogged from 2B to 3B on a passed ball . . . and was thrown out.

If I were Eric Byrnes' Manager, I'd tell him, "The next time you showboat --whether it's doing somersaults on fly balls in the outfield or that wild one-handed uppercut swing or not running your tail off -- I'm going to put you at the end of the bench, and you will never get into a D'backs game again.

"Your salary is not my concern. It's the General Manager's. You'll rot there until they decide to get rid of you.

"That'll give you time to think about your idiotic TV show and count your money."

Hey guys, can you picture Gonzo ever disgracing the team like that? I can't.

Sure can. Remember him just dropping a fly ball in a game where Randy was pitching and there was a fight/argument about it?

Pure laziness.

Mr. Never Dove For a Ball In My Career would never do something like that. Are you crazy?

Gonzo made some sensational sliding catches in the corner.

Why do you guys dislike him so much? It was Ken Kendricks who did a job on him while he was a D'back, not vice versa.

eric brynes is the reincarnate of matt williams, but at least matty played defense for gods sake. i take that back maybe matt deserves more credit for being a solid player.

I don't know about comparing Eric Byrnes with Matt Williams.

Matty was a scowling all-to-serious-to-the-point-of-boring Marine whose batting average didn't match his RBI capability. He was a traditional #5 hitter -- an RBI machine (like Mark Reynolds), but he was a great fielder.

Byrnes is a showboat with the mentality of a 14-year old who does somersaults in the outfield when throwing a ball back in, and has absolutely no plate discipline, with his wild one-handed uppercut swings. He lives in a camper outside the ballpark.

Williams and Byrnes are actually opposites. Matty has a cardboard persona; Eric is a flake.

Byrnes is a clown, a sideshow act that pretending to be a baseball player.

Matty Williams is an a-hole but he played the game the right way.
