The only thing Byrnes and A-Rod have in common is a crazy contract. Byrnes is a 4th outfielder, plain and simple. He had a 1/2 of a good year and was rewarded with a stupid contract from his old agent who was running this team. Here is his batting average in each inning as well as when he hit his homers. Also I included his average with no one on, with men on base, and with runners in scoring position.

1st- .154
2nd- .320 1 hr
3rd- .333
4th- .150
5th- .267 2hr
6th- .333 1 hr
7th- .130
8th- .217 1 hr
9th- .063
Extra- .286

.223 BA w/ no one on
.222 BA w/ men on
.277 BA w/ RISP

Don't let Eric Byrnes see this

'Better not let Eric Byrnes see this Minor League stunt.

Of course, he'd have to figure out how to incorporate it into his patented heels-to-sky pop-up swing.

P.S.: And as I'm watching Ken Griffey's pinch-hit homerun to further destroy our bullpen, here's Eric 'The Clown' Byrnes slipping and sliding in the left field corner while a hit down the line bounces past him for triple.

Gonzo was the master of sliding as he approached the stands to catch a fly ball. I never saw one ricochet past him. Brynes, whether on the field or in front of a microphone, is a cheap imitiation.
