With Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence currently having a difference of opinion that's making the rounds, NFL insiders want in on the action. Are the Dallas Cowboys in on Cooper Kupp, or aren't they?

On Wednesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport rattled off several teams who were interested in the recently released receiver, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams. As anyone who's been following along over the years, Rapoport and other NFL talking heads, never miss an opportunity to mention Dallas when it comes to... well... anything. But Rapoport didn't include the Cowboys among the teams that were showing interest. Enter ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter tweeted that Dallas is indeed making a play for Kupp, who could decide on a landing spot as early as Friday.

Developing: A sleeper team that has emerged and is now making a push to sign former Rams free-agent wide receiver Cooper Kupp is….the Dallas Cowboys, per league sources.

As a released player, Kupp wouldn't impact the highly valued compensatory pick formula Dallas covets so highly.

Kupp, who's earned over $93.5 million across his eight-year career has battled injuries the last two seasons. But if healthy the 6-foot-2, 207-pound veteran could be a useful option for Prescott. Kupp's best season was in 2021 when he led the NFL in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, posting a 145/1,947/16 slash line.

The Cowboys are going to have to improve their wideout situation this offseason. CeeDee Lamb has proven to be one of the league's top receivers with his performances over the last two seasons. 2023 was a First-Team All-Pro campaign, and 2024 could've been if he had Dak Prescott throwing him the ball for more than just seven games. The problem with the Dallas offense isn't the top of the depth chart, it's everything that comes behind it.

Kupp could certainly help with that, but Schefter poured some coolant on the situation with a follow-up tweet that makes it seem the Cowboys were interested, but not at the level of being competitive in the market.

While the Cowboys made what one source described as “a push” for Cooper Kupp, they still are not considered the likely landing spot for the former Rams wide receiver, per source.

The Cowboys are going to have to shore up the WR2 spot opposite Lamb at some point, and the more free agents that come off the board, the more it locks Dallas into taking a wide receiver in the first two rounds of April's amateur draft.
