ESPN is doing a great job this year. Breaking down prospects, film, complete coverage. The NFL Network is covering Manti Teo and then everyone else. Hats off to ESPN.

I thought ESPN kinda blew right past the Cards pick while NFL Network lingered on it and actually broke Cooper down.

Plus I agree with this:

Richard Deitsch ‏@richarddeitsch 19h
It's hard to put into words just how much better Rich Eisen is in his role than Chris Berman.

I am flipping back and forth and it isnt even close. ESPN is killing NFL NETWORK. To the point that NFL. NETWORKs talk about Teo is a huge distraction and annoing as hell. And I hate Espn.

I liked ESPN when they had Gruden on Thursday night. I've had enough of Mayock and he can't hold a candle to Gruden. Gruden actually shared some criticism with some picks this year, whihc he had not done in the past.

I also can't watch NFLN when they have Michael Irvin on set. ESPN was much better this year. But Eisen is much better tha Berman.

Film of every pick we made on ESPN. Some combine crap on NFL Network. If the draft was only broadcast on NFL Network, I probably wouldn't watch it.
Idiotic to bring in college coaches that take forever to make a point while picks are flying by.

ESPN was superior this year. It wasn't even close. Even in the 7th round Mayock and Eisen wouldn't shut up about Manti, even while other guys were being picked.

Even overall ESPN has really stepped up their game in their NFL coverage recently while NFLN has slipped.

ESPN kicked the crap out of the NFL network. And, ESPN usually bugs the hell out of me.

Still hate the new format though. Don't care who is covering it. If the OWN bought the coverage and switched it back to Sat-Sun, I'd be happy.

I recorded (and have now watched) both telecasts from the past three days. I'd give a solid edge to ESPN although early on having to put up with Berman was quite the equalizer. Once it goes to the B team though, ESPN was an easy winner. I guess they got tired of hearing how poorly they covered the draft in comparison to the NFL Network and took steps to narrow the gap (with an obvious assist from the NFL Network). For a couple of years now, NFL channel has inexplicably decided to follow the pattern that ESPN put in play the past decade plus and focus mostly on the hype-able players, teams and moments.

But, all that aside, I have one huge question. What idiot decided that putting Les Miles on set was a good idea? ESPN would have won the battle on the strength of this difference alone. I'm still no fan of ESPN but I did enjoy this return to mediocrity, brief though it may be.

I Was out and about most of the draft and listened to it on Sirius NFL Radio. They had an outstanding crew this year breaking down every pick, and they loved the Cards draft. They really made it simple to follow along on the radio.

This is the first year in many years that I spent more time on ESPN's coverage than NFLN's. ESPN really got their act together for a change. They actually spent considerable time on the picks and the 1-2-3 punch of Kiper, McShay and Dilfer was very informative IMO.

NFLN sorely needs a solid #2 analyst to team with Mike Mayock like ESPN unveiled this year with Kiper and McShay. Mayock is good but he isn't better than ESPN's 1-2 punch of Kiper and McShay.

Even Trey Wingo, whom I normally can't stand, cut down on the snide comments and did a decent job of cueing the right analyst at the right time on days two and three IMO.

I liked NFLN's use of college coaches, but I didn't think they used them very well. It might be better to have them on a panel away from the hall with a host.

NFLN B
