In order to maintain fragile karma lets wish him the best and worry only about -as Shaq likes to say- "Phoenix Suns, Inc."

Yeah, I cant see him shutting it down for 4-6 weeks. He has played fine the past week or so with the injury so we shall see...

Kobe declined surgery. He will play thru it but will monitor it on a day to day basis. He has pulled out of the all star 3 pt shooting replaced by Dirk. Not sure about his all star game status.

Is it his shooting hand Donald?

Yes. He's been playing with it for most of this road trip, since the Nets game. He had it taped together but that didn't work...he played like crap with the tape job. Then he did electro stimulation on it and it has been good since.

He said he plans to have surgery after the Olympics. He'll monitor it until them. Since it is torn, it can't get any worse...just painful.

Damn that's a long time to play with that kind of pain. He should pull a Ronnie Lott and just cut it off

Kobe may have the injury alright, but I bet he would like to skip the All-Star game.

ESPN's Ric Bucher, ERRR... L.A. personal reporter, just reported in all likelyhood Kobe won't be able to play through it...

Wouldn't it be A LOT smarter to get the surgery now, instead of risking further injury or not being effective, and getting the surgery a month from now... and risk his rehab going into the playoffs...

To me, I know your screwed either way, but I am a little surprised Kobe doesn't get the surgery today, use this All-Star week as one of his 6, and be back by end of March for their playoff run....

I'm not complaining as a suns fan, but if I was a Laker fan, I would be nervous....

If you haven't found out by now, Ric Bucher doesn't know one damn thing about the Lakers. Seriously...the only thing he's been right about is that the team is located in LA and is named the Lakers. Everything else is horsecrap. What was it..."Kobe will never play for the Lakers again" and "Kobe will never wear a Lakers uniform again" and "bynum might be gone for the season and that's why they got Gasol" (when Mitch said Bynum is healing fine, and so did Bynum.) Just because Ric is talking about the Lakers a great deal doesn't mean he has been right. In fact, he's got a loooooong track record of being wrong recently.

He can't get any more injured on it, just experience pain...he's had more pain before. He's figured out how to play with it now (as evidenced by his last few games) and he's no stranger to pain. LA radio is saying that he said he won't get it worked on until AFTER the Olympics.

Kobe will be fine...I'm not worried one little bit. He's been playing with the injury during this road trip, where he played great after he stopped taping it. They've likely known about its status as needing surgery for a bit now, and are only bringing it up to keep him very limited in the ASG. I watched the Minny game...never saw him "re-aggravate" it. In fact, he shot better later in the game (sat out the fourth in the blowout).

If theres anything you can count on in this world, it's that the opposite of what Ric Bucher says is true.

Well, that's the only way he'll be able to defend him. If Bell is able to exploit an injury, he might hold Kobe to 30.
Well if Kobe is stupid enough to play with a completely torn ligament (and partial fracture?) in his pinky on his shooting hand then he's just asking for guys to try to take advantage of it. Your shooting hand gets hit the most when guys are trying to block your shot or strip the ball. Now the whole league knows the extent of the injury and I'm sure more than a few guys will try to exploit it, especially if Kobe is hitting his shots.

Who cares Kobe has a serious injury or not?

Shaq is recovering and learning our system, sooner or later he will adapt in very well. Then we will be the team to beat in the whole NBA. We will take any team head on!
