That explains the :madarms: one post'ers... LOL!

well the one guy I know from that board and he's actually one of the better posters on that board.

I was there last year when Leinart's contract was dragging on, most of the folks on that board were blaming it all on the Cards. I don't recall which side he (brdcstr) was on with that issue but I did see someone with that handle posting quite a bit on that board at the time so I'm assuming it's the same
person.

It is tough, every offseason all the Carroll to the NFL rumors pop up and now this thread. I think Carroll is the perfect college coach, and would be crazy to come back to the NFL.

Carroll is a FABULOUS college coach, terrific defensive guy, but the reason USC has dominated the pac 10 is recruiting, they've had more talent and better depth than everyone else. That's not a knock on Carroll it's just reality.

There are absolutely players in the NFL who went to USC who are great players and work hard but Bush, White, Leinart, Justice, Williams, Jarrett are all examples of guys who came in heavily touted and didn't succeed as early as projected in part because people around them said they needed to work harder.

Nobody is saying Carroll is a bad coach, just that it's surprising how many players off that team that lost to Texas seem to have the same issue in the NFL.

I think he's a much better coach than Mack Brown mind you.

Russ, you're dead wrong on Bush's work ethic. It apppears the talking heads are now being believed for every word that comes out of their mouth, when they don't have answers to what riddles them.

Reggies has worked out EVERY summer with LadanlianTomlinson since his HS senior year, whose workout regimen is legendary. RB claims for the first 2 years, he nearly puked daily. He was ALWAYS the hardest worker while at SC, and many of the younger players say that greatly impacted them.

Granted, Lendale has always been lazy...but he came to us like that. Some guys just don't have the work ethic. My gawd, just look at how much he blew up this last offseason...going into his second year.

I wont go on to defend or deny the other guys, since the Pro guys regularly comment on the pace and intensity of USC practices. After all, does a well produce both bitter and sweet water?

Seems to me if PC were so laid back that he produces lazy players, he wouldn't be sending on the Troy Polamalu's, Lofa Ttupu's, Carson palmers and Mike Pattersons to the NFL, no?

As far as saying that his success is strictly related to recruiting better players...baloney. If that were the case, we should expect to see Texas in more than 2 BCS games under Macks tenure. Also, it would be hard to say that SC was all that more talented than OU, who sent on 11 players the next year to the NFL from a team that was annihilated on the field by SC.

It's convenient that you named the 4(5 if you add White) guys that have has any success at the NFL level. They've had far more failures than successes. You also forget to mention that, until the last 2 years, the Pac 10 has been horrid.Cal was USC's only conference rival and they were on completely different levels when it came to overall talent. Texas, which has Oklahoma and a Big 12 championship game every year, had a tougher road to the NC game. Plus Texas and OSU played each other the last 2 years with the winner of that game getting to the NC game and the loser was basically eliminated. The same will probably happen the next 2 years when OSU and USC play each other. I think people forget how hard it is to get to,much less win, a NC game. Everything has to fall your way. Look at OSU and LSU this year. They're only there because of other teams failures.

The winner of the Texas-OU or the Texas-OSU game has gone to the BCS title game 5 times in the last 7 years.

The main reason Texas won back to back Rose Bowls? 16 NFL quality players.

You're missing the point, ESPN didn't invent this they were told this by Drew Brees who is NOT a "talking head" he's a teammate of Reggie Bush.

The discussion was on ESPN but they were talking about comments Brees had made to them about REggie and how he needed to decide how good he wanted to be and work to get there. Note, I agree he works hard physically, but there's more to the NFL than lifting weights and running sprints maybe Brees was talking about watching film, working on blocking etc?

Apparently one of the points that brought it out was Bush' bad lateral on the reverse against Tampa Bay that cost them the game. Apparently Brees was one of several Saints who suggested it didn't surprise them because Bush had been struggling with that play in practice all week and many felt the coaches shouldn't have run the play with him in there knowing how he had struggled with it in practice.

You don't get a body like Reggie has by being lazy, completely agree with it, but Brees had some reason to make his comments and I think he's more familiar with Bush in the NFL than you are.
