I used to go to NAU from 00-13, was super excited about the Suns being on my side of campus. But nope, no interaction with fans, practices and players were guarded, and the GM was unapproachable. Really turned me off to them. It's all business I guess.

It wasn't that way when Cotton was coach. The Suns were trying to link to fans, inviting them to open training camps leading up to summer league. They even had drawings for free ticket drawings. Also the atmosphere was very relaxed. Players and coaches were accessible. It made me the avid Suns fan I am today.

Yeah back in the day when camp was in Flag you'd see the players wondering around town.

Yeah, I love the Suns with a passion, but I dont go to the games and I wouldn't have season tickets because IMO, their game experience does suck, and their games are WAY too freaking expensive.

So in that light I think those parts of these rankings are pretty right on.

I dont get the coaching ranking boost tho. I mean, we all love Hornacek but he's been a coach for 2 seasons, one was impressive and one the team completely imploded. It's too early to tell if either of those things had anything to do with Jeff.

I think he's a good coach, but I'm not ready to name him one of the top coaches in the NBA, not just yet.

Overall I think that's probably about right for the Suns. They were a total trainwreck last year.

We don't all love Hornacek and it really questionable if he is even an adequate coach. Last years meltdown could have been all his making due to the way he managed playing time and his control of the locker room. The popular fall guy is McDonough and to his credit he has put last years meltdown on himself while protecting Hornancek. If my memory is correct that is something Hornacek has never done for any of his players. When we lose he just blames them for not following the game plan in press conferences. He needs to look in the mirror.

We will see what happens this year. McDonough has rid the roster of the problems and brought in new players. There really are no excuses for Hornacek this year. He either makes this team a fun team to watch while winning basketball games or I would show him the door.

The real problem is that we have no one player on the roster that makes anyone want to buy a ticket or turn on the TV to watch. In the day I could not wait to watch and see what Amare or Nash was going to do along with Barbosa, Raja, The Matrix and many others. We also won boat load of games. We were one of the best acts the NBA ever saw. Then Robert Sarver started managing things .......................

This franchise needs a superstar in the worst way. One that would help us win and get people excited about watching the Suns again. I have not idea how we are going to get this guy. It appears that the only way is for us to win the lottery. It appears that the Superstar free agents really have no interest in joining our team. I think that blame falls directly on Robert Sarver's shoulders.

IMO our low rank is entirely warranted. My only disagreement is that Hornacek is ranked too high.
