Wait, wait, wait.. so there's a chance that both Vince Young and Matt Leinart may be starting next week?! The 2006 draft just called excitedly and proclaimed "Victory shall be mine!!"

Wait a second! Tyler Palko is also starting this week. ;)

I got mad respect for Vick on the field playing hurt, suprised he came back in. Off the field is a different story.

I have NO respect for him playing hurt. He didn't tell his team, didn't alert the trainers, or anyone. He played injured and played poorly, and put his selfish desire to keep playing over the good of the team. He knew he'd have been taken out of the game, and so didn't say anything. Since they lost, I will point my finger in the direction of Philly, laugh, and call Vick a selfish ********.

No disrespect intended, but fans get all over Jay Cutler when he doesn't play because of injury, and blast away when a QB does play with injury and doesn't tell anyone. It's a lose-lose for them unless somehow they play with injury and light up the opponent anyway.

I do agree that if Vick knew the extent of his injury he should have told Andy Reid and let the H.C. make the play-no play decision. But just like with concussions, almost all professional athletes want to be on the field.

You're simply off base, man. Sorry, but players that play through the pain of serious injuries almost universally tell the staff about the injury. They don't withhold the knowledge. Sure, they may do that for a minor ding, but not for something like broken ribs. Remember McNabb throwing like crazy on us on a broken ankle? The staff KNEW he was injured and let him play through it.

The reason Vick struggled is because the Cards had a great gameplan against him. You could see he was confused when there were only 2 DL. THe Cards just rushed the minimum, contained him in the pocket, and forced him to beat them with his accuracy, of which he always has had very little.

Leaving egos at the door it might be best for both teams to trade Kolb back to Philly. The trade would not have to be the same pieces. I guess teams never admit mistakes.

Portland Oregon these days.
I'm 99% sure it was the hit by D Wash on a pass rush. They showed it on ESPN on NFLN.
D Wash may be a little under "ideal" weight but he plays with power. Every game I see at least one play where he squares up and hits the ball carrier and drops them or knocks them backwards.

I feel really bad admitting this - but when I heard about his ribs, I thought it happened in the 4th Quarter with the D Wash hit -- and that he claimed it was the second play of the game to give himself an excuse.

I must have a terribly overactive imagination.

Smells to me like an excuse. I watched that entire game and he didnt take a nasty hit to the midsection or look in obvious discomfort until Lenon drilled him, helmet first, right into his rib cage on the 2nd to last play of their 2nd to last drive.

I dont doubt he broke some ribs, but he had already laid his egg on that game.
Not true. I saw Schofield massacre him on a scramble that was either second quarter or the begining of the third.

Vick said the broken ribs happened on the 2nd play of the game. I have watched the game many times, that is just a flat out lie. He is merely using it as excuse for playing horribly. It is obvious when it happened.

I saw Vick take a vicious hit from a cheerleader during the entry from the tunnel during the fanfare at the start, I'm sure the broken ribs happened then

Exactly. No denying it. As much as we all (including me) rip the coaching staff, Horton made the Eagles look stupid last Sunday.

like you said, He kept bringing 2, yes 2 down lineman and you could tell by his body language pre snap that Vick had NO idea what to do.

Last week gave me hope for the future that Horton can be a good DC.

You do realize that in the second play of the game, DWash took him off of his feet and slammed him into the ground, right? You're saying that getting slammed on your side can't break your ribs? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwkay.

I'm saying that he jumped right up and continued playing. Saw it many times on the DVR. I don't believe he was playing with broken ribs at that point. Yes, I know what it does to you. It happened much later, he knew it and used it as an excuse for his poor play. But of course I know that since Vick has led such an upstanding life, it is hard to believe he could be capable of that. I've never known him to dog it.

I don't think it was the 2nd play. DWash hit him hard, but Vick shows no sign of being sluggish or hurt for the entire quarter. The next big hit is also DWash on the first play of the 2nd Quarter (and this is more of a fell awkwardly type thing). Again, no signs of being hurt there either.

Having also seen the game a couple times over, hearing him say that the ribs broke on the second play doesn't surprise me. DWash hit him pretty nice exactly where Vick claimed he did.

Having played football, I remember one game where very early I took a pretty good shot to my ribs. I was pretty sure one was at least fractured but my breathing wasn't THAT bad at that point and it was a game I really wanted to win so I stuck it out. Half time came and went, we went out for kickoff and I took a pretty nice shot to the same spot and my rib snapped. I'd been playing hurt all day but the final shot was the nail in the coffin.

That's about what I see when watching the game over. A couple of plays here and there you can see him raise his arm on the side he took the shot, like he's stretching out or something. My guess is the ribs were bothering him but not enough to come out. The play much later in the fourth quarter probably is what is making him sit this week.

If only... even if Andy Reid actually likes Kolb's potential (which I highly doubt), they would neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever take his contract back in a trade. We couldnt GIVE him back with that deal attached.
