Why wouldn't you just take McNeill or the guy from Penn State on the second day and get a player that can, like, play his real position from the start?
Maybe we might. (But I'd substitute Omar Jacobs for Robinson in my thinking).
It depends on how our scouts view Young. Interesting dialog (supported by tape) on NFL Net yesterday between Corey Chavous and Mike Mayock.
Chavous featured examples of Young making throws that aspiring QB's dream of making - keeping the ball away from defenders, throwing to spots well ahead of time, fitting the ball in narrow windows etc.
You can make either case (i.e. that Young lacks the tools and represents a questionmark or that he's shown scouts enough to convince them he's the real deal).
It will all come down to eyeballs watching tape, phone calls to guys he's played with, against and for and coaches talking to and working with Young.
(Note - I have a soft spot in my heart for Corey, and not because he was once a Cardinal. He's the only other draft geek out there - other than me- nutty enough to rate McNeal at or near #1).
