I am still not sure what to think about this trade. I feel like we could have gotten more, but I think that is a reaction to the type of trades Joe Jr made in the past and I will have to wait and see if Josh is better in these situations.

I disagree. Randy Wolf was the lefty we were looking at to sign and he will be more expensive then Davis is (and Davis is healthy and better). The FA spending is absolutely out of control, this was a great trade. Davis is a big time strikeout pitcher who has a rubber arm. The addition of Davis also helps our bullpen- now we have the 3 of the most efficient inning eater arms in all of baseball. The other lefty we got is expected to make the rotation and has a lot of potential. We also got a former 1st round pick who we could use as trade bait. Good trade by Byrnes

I am not saying it is not, I am saying Joe Jr has scared me when it comes to trading or signing for pitching that is suppose to eat inning, so I will have to wait and see.

If this is best we could get, so be it. At least we're attempting to improve the rotation via trade instead of overpaying a free agent.

Now we just roll the dice and hope we get the Davis of '04 and '05 instead of the Davis of '06.

This is not Joe 'Voldemort' Garagiola anymore. I think it's a low-risk with potential good upside move. Other than our youngsters, Josh Byrnes is the only thing I like or trust about the team right now.
