Scotland winger Claire Emslie has turned her loan spell at Women's Super League side Everton into a more permanent stay, after signing an 18-month contract with the club until June 2022. The 26-year-old former Manchester City, Bristol City and Hibernian wide player had been on loan with Everton from United States outfit Orlando Pride during the first half of the season. Her move to Merseyside has seen her reunited with Everton boss Willie Kirk, whom she previously played under at Hibs and Bristol City. “I believe in the club’s plans and ambitions and I want to be part of the team achieving those goals," Emslie told the club website. "I’m so happy and excited to sign permanently." Kirk, whose team reached 2020's Women's FA Cup final, added: “Making Claire's stay at the club permanent is a really important signing for us. It is no secret that I've signed her a number of times, which proves my trust in her. “She is a very, very hard worker, is two-footed, creative and versatile enough to be able to play anywhere across the front three. I have no doubt she will prove to be key signing for us in the long-term.” Pacey, and with an eye for goal from long range, Emslie has scored twice in seven appearances so far this season. She also had a spell on loan with Australian side Melbourne City last term, while on Orlando's books. Everton are fifth in the WSL, six points below the Women's Champions League places after nine league games this term. They will return to action after the winter break with a home game against league leaders Manchester United on Sunday, 10 January, before hosting Kirk and Emslie's former club Bristol City on 17 January and then travelling to Birmingham City for their game in hand on 20 January.
