I don't know how you can make a definitive statement like that. Is it a possibility? Sure, but it's also just as possible that he will be a premier back for the next 7-8 years. We just won't know until further down the road.

Becausethats what I think. Wells is soooo overrated it aint even funny IMHO. Cbus liking him just cements it.

What about him makes you think he is going to bust?
i don't get it either. He's everything you want in a RB. If he would've stayed his senior year,he would've eneded up #2 on their all time rushing list. As it is, he's 4th. When he played against the best competition nobody, other than PSU this year, could stop him. Texas,Michigan, LSU, Wisonsin all got trampled on. People are letting a few nicks here and there color their opinion. C'mon,Donald Brown over Wells :doi:. Get serious. Wells is better than Eddie George coming out of OSU. Moreno is the only back that can be in the conversation with Wells and i don't think he's a good. Hell,OSU wins the NC if Tressel doesn't go brain dead and quit giving Wells the ball against LSU. I would've run him 45 times that game. They could not stop him and that was one of the best defensively talented teams you'll ever see in college.

stas against the best team:
sophomore year-Mich 39-230 2TD
LSU 20-146 1TD
PSU 25-137 0TD
Wisc 21-173 3TD
Mich St. 31-234 1TD

junior year- Tex 16-106 0TD
Mich 15-137 1TD
Wisc 22-168 1TD
Mich St. 31-149 2TD
PSU 22-59 0 TD , his 1 bad game
all these games in 2008 are played with a boot on 1 foot as well.

I agree, and the only reason PSU stopped him was because they decided that they were NOT going to let Chris Wells beat them. How about that, a RB that teams have to gameplan for? We definitely don't have one of those on the roster right now, and if someone wants to put 9 in the box against us, there is no way we dont put up 400 yards through the air.

Nobody gets it right all the time when predicting success for a RB. In the cbssports.com article I posted in another thread ,50% of first round RBs end up being very good NFL RBs. That means 50% underperform or bust.

I don't see Wells being a sure thing but not because of lack of talent. We've covered this already. Cbus is not a blind homer and he might be right about Wells.

My opinion is we'll pick a RB in round 1 or 2, depending on who is available at the time on our BPA/needs-weighted board. I think Wells will go in round 1. If we are the team who takes him, I'll hope for the best.

hope he fails badly enough at his pro day to fall to #31, where hopefully whizz jumps on him there and we get our top 10-12 running game to complement our top passing game. wells is the back i'd take, up there ahead of moreno. cbus cards fan, your enthusiasm about bw is catching to me. Thank you.

I consider cbus a friend :)

That being said he can very much be a blind homer with OSU players!

COUGH another RB who's name COUGH wont be mentioned COUGH comes to mind COUGH

You can't base your evaluation of a player based on them having multiple non-lingering injuries. You can't predict future injuries based on the past. Moreno could have a career ending injury his first game and Wells could go on to play as many games as Emmitt did, there is no way to know.
If you don't like Wells running style that is fine but thinking he will be a bad back because he has had a few unrelated injuries that doctors at the pro day said are completely taken care of is just a lame excuse to knock a guy.

talk about being completely wrong on someone,i would've avoided Slaton at all costs last year . At least i was right about Hart from Michigan :).

Well if it makes you feel any better, I am a WVU fan (obviously, see avatar) and although I thought Slaton would be good in a few years, I never imagined he would have the year he had. Period.
