I rented Evid Dead Sat night after the ASU game. It was a funny flick. The special effects were horrible, but very campy. I was laughing at the "zombies" or whatever.

My wife went to bed early, but I think I can talk her into watching ED2!

The acting was horrendous - but I enjoyed it. You hear something out side your window at 1 AM in the middle of the woods. DO you go off on a soujurn to find out who is there? Hell no!

Your girlfriend's best friend turns into a demon & you lock her in the cellar. Do you try to get some sleep? Hell no!

These things come at you & break through the windows. Do you ever stand in front of the window? Hell no!

I loved the campy "typical girl is running in the forest getting chased by the demon, girl falls over obvious rock" scene.

One thing freaked me out though. When they are crossing the bridge in the beginning, I stopped the DVD & there's a guy standing behind the car, dressed in blue. Anyone else see that? Was that supposed to be there?

I finally watched The Evil Dead for the first time. I really wish I had seen it when I was a kid. I thought it was pretty funny, but I'm sure I would have loved it as a kid.

Funny....
The original script called for all the characters to be smoking marijuana when they are first listening to the tape. The actors decided to try this for real, and the entire scene had to be later re-shot due to their uncontrollable behavior.

ED2 and AoD are two of my favorite flicks.

Despite the fact they're part of the same series, in my mind they come off as so radically different in style that neither has to be "the better" they're both great for reasons independent of each other.

Gotta be #2... little or no budget, bad acting, great camp humor...

Evil Dead 1 was great, production value a little low and intended to be more serious than it was, trying to be a "horror" movie, rathter than a "horror-comedy". AoD was extreme camp, and wasn't even really a horror movie anymore...

Evil Dead 2 was basically a combo of both 1 and 3.

totally agree. make everyone watch it during my annual pumpkin carving party. booze, knives, and evil dead II. it's a great night. also added bubba ho tep to the night's festivities. if you like camp, you'll like bubba ho tep

Recently watched #2. Bruce Campbell is hilarious in these movies. I liked it a bit more than #1. One more to go.

Nice:
Originally when Bobbie Joe gets killed, the vines pull her legs apart and she's split in half like a wishbone when she gets rammed with a tree between her legs. It was cut out in order to obtain the R-rating.

Wow.

Deanna's post about the movie "Manster", and the references to it in "Army of Darkness" made me look for this old thread.

What the hell happened to me? I used to actually try to discuss issues and opinions in an adult and thoughtful manner.

And what happened to Krang?

Damn you for growing up, and serving your country Krang! Damn you all to Hell!

Now, all I do is post pooh-pooh jokes about Gee.

Time to go back into hiding...
