We all missed the most important part... We aren't 35 million under the cap, we are just over 20. Cut out 3-4 for Rookies, and we are playing with 16-17 million, half of what we as angry rabid fans have been quoting. No wonder we didn't go for a huge signing.

Um... where is this number coming from? The Cardinals? Didn't they only tender one RFA? What are they using the other $15 million on?

JoeSchmo said on another thread that 10 million in incentives was paid out. The other 5 must be the RFA tenders.

But we only tendered one RFA, and that was Nick Leckey. If we gave him the second-round tender, it's only $800,000.

The 10 Mill was apart of the orginal 36.7 Mill quoted by John Clayton himself.

The Cards decided to pay out incentives and bonuses that were due in 2008 and accelerated it to this season.

That is why John Claytons salary cap thread went from 36.7 all the way down to 21 mill in one day.

We accelerated bonuses for Rolle, Fitz, Matt, and a gave Leckey a 1.3 Mill tender.

Here is what happened IMO. The cards saw the players they were targeting either get re-signed (Gorude), or saw no chance of signing other targets after getting an idea during the combine from players agents (The FB from the Ravens, Dockery, and some other OL that is splipping my mind). Just look at Graves quotes about being aggresive, then a few days later we get the one posted to the main web site talking about nothing big will happen and we will only spend 15-20 Mill. Something changed over night and thats what I think happened.

That's how I read it, too. Which makes me think that again Rod Graves has mis-read the lay of the NFL land and we'll hear again how we weren't 2-3 players away from being successful when we're 2-4 to begin the season. Who's excited for that?

What's exceptionally shady is that no one reported this and the Cards didn't release anything. What's even worse is that Kent Somers and Darren Urban haven't said anything either--at least not yet.

The Bidwill's cheap ways are rearing thier ugly head...accelerate bonuses to make it look like they are spending this cap is crap...

Can we please vote the owners out?

I can't believe the media hasn't taken that and run with it. That would be a huge black eye for the franchise.

My guess is that it'll take a couple days for that story to really work it's way out. Darren Urban and Kent Somers have to see these guys every day. Writing something like this is going to burn some bridges with the team; it has to.

I think they're waiting to see if the Cards actually sign anyone of value. If the Marc Colombos and Jordan Blacks of the NFL don't end up here, or the Cards complain that they didn't have the cap flexibility, they'll allow Graves to hang himself from his own petard.

At the very least, I think they might be saving the story for Monday, when people actually read the sports pages. I think the team did this on Friday. Maybe the writers want to find out what actually happened from the league office.

So the new and improved visit list is

FB - Vonta Leach (3/2)
OL - Mike Gandy (3/3)
OC - Al Johnson (3/3)
DB - Kevin Kaesviharn (3/3)
CB - Travis Fisher (3/4)
CB - Roderick Hood (3/5)

DB - Terrence Holt (?)
TE - Reggie Kelly (?)

Still no mention of other TE's, LB's, or DL?

Why are they looking so hard into fullbacks?? I like Obafemi!
