Ex-NL MVP Mitchell facing assault trial (AP)

Former National League MVP Kevin Mitchell has been ordered to stand trial after he was accused of assaulting a man at a golf club in Southern California. A judge on Wednesday scheduled the ex-San Francisco Giant and New York Mets slugger for trial Nov. 3 in San Diego County. The 48-year-old Mitchell faces up to four years in prison if convicted of battery and assault charges.
